Miscellaneous Subjects #153: Oily Deceit

Hello everyone

Here is what got my attention tonight.

Worth a good look as you'll see...

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded with patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader, and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar."

- Shakespeare

"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator."

- GW Bush during a photo-op with Congressional leaders on 12/18/2000. As broadcast on CNN and available in transcript on their website http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0012/18/nd.01.html

"The trumped-up war in Iraq is power madness and pure stupidity. The fact that it is monstrously immoral ought to count for something, too... Our only real safety lies in crafting an American success story that does not rely upon the repression of the world's people and the destruction of their systems of self-determination for the sake of our industrial needs, but instead upon their rising health and wealth and freedom. Otherwise a state of constant war is indeed inevitable. We know that. We choose against it."

NOTE: The attached picture sent to me by "Leonard Spade" <Lspade@msn.com> relates to the Seven Sisters and is quite self-explanatory. Here is some details though on who these 7 sisters are...

From: http://www.wikipedia.com/wiki/Seven_Sisters (Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia online)

Following the break up by the US Government of Standard Oil, several new companies were created, 3 of which, along with 4 other major oil companies, were once referred to as the seven sisters, these were:

Standard Oil of New Jersey which became Exxon, now ExxonMobil

Royal Dutch Shell Anglo-Dutch Royal Dutch Shell

British Anglo-Persian Oil Company which became British Petroleum now BPAmoco following a merger with Amoco (formerly Standard Oil of Indiana)

Standard Oil of New York which became Mobil which merged with Exxon to form ExxonMobil

Texaco America -- later merged with Chevron to form ChevronTexaco.

Standard Oil of California (Socal) which became Chevron, and now ChevronTexaco

Gulf Oil, most of which which became part of Chevron. A network of stations in the northeastern United States now bears this name.

Dear Jean,

I do thank you for your supreme efforts in keeping us informed.

What I see now though, is that there is really nothing new. It is the same info over and over again. As I read through the articles this information has not moved people to really take action. The quest for oil through war and tyranny will not change if our lifestyles continue to demand more than the earth can provde. The greenhouse effect will worsen because no one takes any steps to change their ways of living. There answers lie in taking responsibility and not living in such wasteful ways. How big a house does one need? How many cars? How long do we work as slaves and ignore the natural and true essence of our souls?

Talking about it is not enough! Now we cannot even demonstrate or protest against such actions without police brutality. And yet the people talking about this, still pay the perpetrators salaries through taxes. As long as they get paid, nothing will change. But again this is taking true responsiblity, and not just words.

So although, I see your good intentions, there is really no new news.

Sandi

Hi

When I heard Cheney talk about "the world's worst leaders" getting nukes, I almost choked. So I sent off this short "zinger" to the LA Times. they didn't print it. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.

Peace and joy,

John Owen

---

Dick Cheney is concerned about the "world's worst leaders" possessing the world's worst weapons. The world's worst leaders, the Bush/Cheney administration, already have most of the world's worst weapons. During their tenure, Bush/Cheney have gone back on the United States' commitments to take action on global warming and environmental protection, they have blocked international action towards global nuclear abolition, they have refused to ratify the international criminal court treaty. They terrorize the whole world by building Star Wars systems. They have killed thousands of innocent Afghanis to divert attention from fact that from the day they took office to September 11, 2001, they blocked continuation of previous United States efforts to contain Al Queda while they conducted a "policy review." They imprisoned without charges or trial hundreds of Americans who have middle eastern names. Now they want to go to war with Iraq, to steal the Iraqi's oil. Bush/Cheney, our self-appointed leaders who stole the presidency, call themselves Christians. Why then do they complain about the few weapons other countries may have while ignoring the awesome power for evil contained in the United States' massive arsenal of weapons of mass destruction?

The Real Goal is the Seizure of Saudi Oil

Iraq is no threat. Bush wants war to keep US control of the region

by Mo Mowlam

I keep listening to the words coming from the Bush administration about Iraq and I become increasingly alarmed. There seems to be such confusion, but through it all a grim determination that they are, at some point, going to launch a military attack. The response of the British government seems equally confused, but I just hope that the determination to ultimately attack Iraq does not form the bedrock of their policy. It is hard now to see how George Bush can withdraw his bellicose words and also save face, but I hope that that is possible. Otherwise I fear greatly for the Middle East, but also for the rest of the world.

What is most chilling is that the hawks in the Bush administration must know the risks involved. They must be aware of the anti-American feeling throughout the Middle East. They must be aware of the fear in Egypt and Saudi Arabia that a war against Iraq could unleash revolutions, disposing of pro-western governments, and replacing them with populist anti-American Islamist fundamentalist regimes. We should all remember the Islamist revolution in Iran. The Shah was backed by the Americans, but he couldn't stand against the will of the people. And it is because I am sure that they fully understand the consequences of their actions, that I am most afraid. I am drawn to the conclusion that they must want to create such mayhem.

The many words that are uttered about Saddam Hussein having weapons of mass destruction, which are never substantiated with any hard evidence, seem to mean very little. Even if Saddam had such weapons, why would he wish to use them? He knows that if he moves to seize the oilfields in neighboring countries the full might of the western world will be ranged against him. He knows that if he attacks Israel the same fate awaits him. Comparisons with Hitler are silly - Hitler thought he could win; Saddam knows he cannot. Even if he has nuclear weapons he cannot win a war against America. The United States can easily contain him. They do not need to try and force him to irrationality.

But that is what Bush seems to want to do. Why is he so determined to take the risk? The key country in the Middle East, as far as the Americans are concerned, is Saudi Arabia: the country with the largest oil reserves in the world, the country that has been prepared to calm the oil markets, producing more when prices are too high and less when there is a glut. The Saudi royal family has been rewarded with best friend status by the west for its cooperation. There has been little concern that the government is undemocratic and breaches human rights, nor that it is in the grip of an extreme form of Islam. With American support it has been believed that the regime can be protected and will do what is necessary to secure a supply of oil to the west at reasonably stable prices.

Since September 11, however, it has become increasingly apparent to the US administration that the Saudi regime is vulnerable. Both on the streets and in the leading families, including the royal family, there are increasingly anti-western voices. Osama bin Laden is just one prominent example. The love affair with America is ending. Reports of the removal of billions of dollars of Saudi investment from the United States may be difficult to quantify, but they are true. The possibility of the world's largest oil reserves falling into the hands of an anti-American, militant Islamist government is becoming ever more likely - and this is unacceptable.

The Americans know they cannot stop such a revolution. They must therefore hope that they can control the Saudi oil fields, if not the government. And what better way to do that than to have a large military force in the field at the time of such disruption. In the name of saving the west, these vital assets could be seized and controlled. No longer would the US have to depend on a corrupt and unpopular royal family to keep it supplied with cheap oil. If there is chaos in the region, the US armed forces could be seen as a global savior. Under cover of the war on terrorism, the war to secure oil supplies could be waged.

This whole affair has nothing to do with a threat from Iraq - there isn't one. It has nothing to do with the war against terrorism or with morality. Saddam Hussein is obviously an evil man, but when we were selling arms to him to keep the Iranians in check he was the same evil man he is today. He was a pawn then and is a pawn now. In the same way he served western interests then, he is now the distraction for the sleight of hand to protect the west's supply of oil. And where does this leave the British government? Are they in on the plan or just part of the smokescreen? The government speaks of morality and the threat posed by weapons of mass destruction, but can they really believe it?

The Powell Trap: Easing Us Into War

By Norman Solomon / Creators Syndicate

There's something pathetic -- and dangerous -- about the crush of liberal commentators now pinning their hopes on Colin Powell.

Yes, the secretary of state is a "moderate" -- compared to the likes of Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. But that's not saying much. And history tells us, even if the press won't, that Powell does not have a record as a man of conscience.

Media coverage is portraying Powell as a steady impediment to a huge assault on Iraq. But closer scrutiny would lead us to different conclusions.

Instead of undermining prospects for a military conflagration, Powell's outsized prestige is a very useful asset for the war planners. The retired general "is seen by many of Washington's friends and allies abroad as essential to the credibility of Bush's foreign policy," the French news agency AFP noted as this month began.

Avid participation in deplorable actions has been integral to Powell's career. A few examples:

* Serving as a top deputy to Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger, Powell supervised the Army's transfer of 4,508 TOW missiles to the CIA in January 1986. Nearly half of those missiles became part of the Reagan administration's arms-for-hostages swap with Iran. Powell helped to hide that transaction from Congress and the public.

* As President Reagan's national security adviser, Powell became a key operator in U.S. efforts to overthrow the elected government of Nicaragua. When he traveled to Central America in January 1988, Powell threatened a cutoff of U.S. aid to any country in the region that refused to go along with continued warfare by the contra guerrillas, who were in the midst of killing thousands of Nicaraguan civilians. Powell worked to prevent the success of a peace process initiated by Costa Rica's president, Oscar Arias.

* When U.S. troops invaded Panama on Dec. 20, 1989, Powell was chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He had "emerged as the crucial figure in the decision to invade," according to British newspaper reporter Martin Walker. Hundreds of civilians died in the first hours of the invasion. Powell declared on that day: "We have to put a shingle outside our door saying, 'Superpower lives here.'"

* In late 2000, while Bush operatives went all-out during the Florida recount to grab the electoral votes of a state where many thousands of legally qualified African Americans had been prevented from voting due to Republican efforts, Powell went to George W. Bush's ranch in Texas to pose for a photo-op and show support for his presidential quest.

Now, journalists tell us that the latest manifestation of Colin Powell's "moderate" resolve is his stance on Iraq. But the Powell rhetoric about the need for allied support and U.N. Security Council backing can be understood as a fervent desire to line up as many ducks as possible before the shooting starts. Under Powell's direction, U.S. diplomats -- diligently laying down groundwork for war -- are brandishing carrots and sticks at numerous countries.

"Access to Qatar's al Udeid Air Base will be essential to an Iraq invasion," a Wall Street Journal story reported on Sept. 3. Big deals are being cut. "Qatari officials have told U.S. officials that they want a guarantee that the U.S. military presence in Qatar would be permanent. They also want the U.S. to assume a greater portion of the $400 million cost of upgrading al Udeid air base for the U.S. Air Force."

As for reluctant members of the U.N. Security Council, some bloody quid pro quos are on the horizon. In the Journal's words, Moscow "is expected to seek an understanding with the U.S. that it will have a freer hand in putting down its rebellion in Chechnya and that it will get a portion of the postwar contracts for rebuilding Iraq."

Powell's "moderate" approach is in sync with the outlook of Fareed Zakaria, former managing editor of the elite periodical Foreign Affairs, who shares Powell's interest in urging the return of U.N. weapons inspectors to Iraq -- a good PR step in the quest for a confrontation leading to war. "Even if the inspections do not produce the perfect crisis," Zakaria wrote in a Sept. 2 Newsweek column, "Washington will still be better off for having tried because it would be seen to have made every effort to avoid war."

Along similar lines, CNN reports, Powell "is working to convince the president of the need to build a strong coalition, similar to the one that existed during the 1991 Gulf War, and win the support of the U.N. Security Council through a new resolution."

Deadly hawks come in many styles. Some have polished talons.

The Troubling New Face of America

By Jimmy Carter

September 5, 2002

Fundamental changes are taking place in the historical policies of the United States with regard to human rights, our role in the community of nations and the Middle East peace process -- largely without definitive debates (except, at times, within the administration). Some new approaches have understandably evolved from quick and well-advised reactions by President Bush to the tragedy of Sept. 11, but others seem to be developing from a core group of conservatives who are trying to realize long-pent-up ambitions under the cover of the proclaimed war against terrorism.

Formerly admired almost universally as the preeminent champion of human rights, our country has become the foremost target of respected international organizations concerned about these basic principles of democratic life. We have ignored or condoned abuses in nations that support our anti-terrorism effort, while detaining American citizens as "enemy combatants," incarcerating them secretly and indefinitely without their being charged with any crime or having the right to legal counsel. This policy has been condemned by the federal courts, but the Justice Department seems adamant, and the issue is still in doubt. Several hundred captured Taliban soldiers remain imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay under the same circumstances, with the defense secretary declaring that they would not be released even if they were someday tried and found to be innocent. These actions are similar to those of abusive regimes that historically have been condemned by American presidents.

While the president has reserved judgment, the American people are inundated almost daily with claims from the vice president and other top officials that we face a devastating threat from Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, and with pledges to remove Saddam Hussein from office, with or without support from any allies. As has been emphasized vigorously by foreign allies and by responsible leaders of former administrations and incumbent officeholders, there is no current danger to the United States from Baghdad. In the face of intense monitoring and overwhelming American military superiority, any belligerent move by Hussein against a neighbor, even the smallest nuclear test (necessary before weapons construction), a tangible threat to use a weapon of mass destruction, or sharing this technology with terrorist organizations would be suicidal. But it is quite possible that such weapons would be used against Israel or our forces in response to an American attack.

We cannot ignore the development of chemical, biological or nuclear weapons, but a unilateral war with Iraq is not the answer. There is an urgent need for U.N. action to force unrestricted inspections in Iraq. But perhaps deliberately so, this has become less likely as we alienate our necessary allies. Apparently disagreeing with the president and secretary of state, in fact, the vice president has now discounted this goal as a desirable option.

We have thrown down counterproductive gauntlets to the rest of the world, disavowing U.S. commitments to laboriously negotiated international accords.

Peremptory rejections of nuclear arms agreements, the biological weapons convention, environmental protection, anti-torture proposals, and punishment of war criminals have sometimes been combined with economic threats against those who might disagree with us. These unilateral acts and assertions increasingly isolate the United States from the very nations needed to join in combating terrorism.

Tragically, our government is abandoning any sponsorship of substantive negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis. Our apparent policy is to support almost every Israeli action in the occupied territories and to condemn and isolate the Palestinians as blanket targets of our war on terrorism, while Israeli settlements expand and Palestinian enclaves shrink.

There still seems to be a struggle within the administration over defining a comprehensible Middle East policy. The president's clear commitments to honor key U.N. resolutions and to support the establishment of a Palestinian state have been substantially negated by statements of the defense secretary that in his lifetime "there will be some sort of an entity that will be established" and his reference to the "so-called occupation." This indicates a radical departure from policies of every administration since 1967, always based on the withdrawal of Israel from occupied territories and a genuine peace between Israelis and their neighbors.

Belligerent and divisive voices now seem to be dominant in Washington, but they do not yet reflect final decisions of the president, Congress or the courts. It is crucial that the historical and well-founded American commitments prevail: to peace, justice, human rights, the environment and international cooperation.

Former president Carter is chairman of the Carter Center in Atlanta.

Biggest Secrets, Part 1
By Sherman H. Skolnick
skolnick@ameritech.net
http://www.skolnicksreport.com
7-31-2

What are among the biggest secrets, in America, if not worldwide?

[1] In the midst of the downfall of huge corrupt entities, the Federal Reserve siphoned off billions and billions of dollars from them. [Plus $3 trillion dollars from the U.S. budget have disappeared; see http://www.heartcom.org/budget.htm --CR]

America's secretive PRIVATE central bank stole huge funds from Enron (where 60 billion dollars disappeared), from Global Crossing, from WorldCom, from AOL-Time-Warner-CNN (where 56 billion dollars is gone), and others. Was it a mere coincidence that a top official of Enron, Jeff Skilling, was also a Director of the Federal Reserve District Bank in Houston?

Owned and formed principally by European families, known as major swindlers, the Federal Reserve used hocus-pocus, called derivatives, and other book-cooking black magic, to multiply these funds as monstrous book entries, in the trillions of dollars. Assisting the Fed have been J.P. Morgan, Citigroup (Rockefeller), and Goldman Sachs, themselves having a history of massive treason and fraud.

The purpose? To use this loot to pump up the Dow Jones 30 Industrials as a fake psychological barometer on the stock markets, to entice novices and know-nothings into believing the era of a "Great Prosperity" has arrived. In fact, the supposed good times are ending , in biblical fashion, for a decade or generation, or more.

In the process of all this, the Federal Reserve has become technically if not actually insolvent. While at it, the Fed has unlawfully sucked out huge sums from the Social Security Trust Fund, thus endangering senior citizens, those about to be such, disabled workers, and dependent children of deceased or disabled workers.

To recoup their losses, the Fed has now switched positions and is short-selling, without obeying short-selling restrictions, to drive DOWN the markets.

In short, this is the way historically the Establishment, the ruling families, the power elite "powers that be", the ultra rich---whatever you call them---many of them overseas-based, eventually grab up for a penny on the dollar, the bank deposits, the savings, the small real estate, the private and public pension funds, and other life-time-gathered and entitled assets of common Americans.

[For background, visit our website stories, such as about Greenspan and the Bush Family, Enron, IRS Corruption, and the murder of John F. Kennedy Jr."What Happened to America's Golden B oy?". Also, the heavily-documented opus, "History of the Great American Fortunes" by Gustavus Myers.]

[2] Has the purpose been also events, studied, planned, and orchestrated, by the espionage community, without restraint of Law? To discredit U.S. elected central government, in favor of those who seek the downfall of our U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights guarantees? Such as, to reverse ordinary Americans into colonial puppets, subjects of the British Monarchy? [See our website series, "The Overthrow of the American Republic".]

Was an important point in American history, the sham "presidential election" of the year 2000? Frightening, the way it played out similar to the outrageous "Election" of "1876", subject of a book simply "1876" by Gore Vidal. In 1877, deprived of being inaugurated was presidential election winner Samuel Tilden. To astute observers, similar to what happened to Albert Gore, Jr.,, the actual ELECTED president, deprived of being inaugurated as such by a corrupt "Gang of Five" on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Some of the same criminals in the Enron mess, are those who are part of the Carlyle Group. They were reportedly implicated in massive bribing of DEMOCRAT officials in southern Florida, to stop, at a crucial point, the recount of the ballots.

Daddy Bush, as former head of America's secret political police, and his henchmen, were instrumental in the Electoral College fix in Florida. [Visit our website series on the year 2000 "Election", including about the American CIA, and Jeb Bush, Florida Governor. Also, see our story about the plot to assassinate Gore.]

[3] For several decades after World War Two, Americans were cowed and controlled by the "Red Scare". The oil-soaked, spy-riddled monopoly press never mentioned that the Soviet Empire was formed and controlled by American and British funds. It fulfilled what some call the Hegelian method, antithesis to create synthesis. The Soviets were permitted to blackmail Western elites with the fake murder story as to Tsar Nicholas 2nd and his family, supposedly in 1918. [See our website story, "Great Secrets of the 20th Century". Also, view a segment on-line of our television show with experts on that subject.]

The Soviets, supposed "enemies of the U.S.", were supplied tremendous American technology to build up their industrial might and war machine. Such as a huge truck plant the U.S. arranged the building of in Siberia. The late Antony Sutton bravely documented these details in a whole series of books. A short list of Sutton's books: "Wall Street and the Bolshevik Revolution". "America's Secret Establishment- An Introduction to the Order of Skull & Bones". "The Best Enemy Money can Buy". "National suicide: military aid to the Soviet Union". "Western Technology & Soviet Economic Development: 1917- 30". "Western Technology & Soviet Economic Development: 1945- 1965". "National Security and Trade with the Soviet Union".

Once in a sinister manner referred to as America's "mortal enemy", the former Soviet Union is now protrayed as our friends. And, headed by Putin, formerly with the Russian Secret Political Police; he deals with George W. Bush, son of the former head of America's secret political police. At the same time as building up the Soviets, American big business built up Nazi Germany, to promote war profits.

[See, "Trading With the Enemy", by Charles Higham. Former Federal Prosecutor, John J. Loftus, has gathered documents showing how the George Bush Family financed Hitler. http://www.john_loftus.com Also, "Unauthorized Biography of George Bush" by Webster Tarpley.

[4] With the Soviets no longer the great bogeyman, the ruling families, to further cow and control ordinary Americans, and other common people worldwide, have a Plan B, already in progress. Hollywood, always tied to the Pentagon and the war-mongers, has long- since helped this Plan with stories about Unidentified Flying Objects, UFOs, real, or otherwise.

A long-time secret project has been anti-gravity machines. A small belated admission has come out from Boeing. Interesting, that they refer to the Boeing division, as the Phantom Works."Boeing challenges the laws of physics", Financial Times, 7/29/02

Not mentioned are the secret anti-gravity machine projects of the Fermi Labs, an adjunct of Rockefeller's University of Chicago.

A highly secret unit of the U.S. Military and the National Reconnaissance Office, NRO, has developed holographic projection. That is, in simple terms, images of supposed moving and flying devices are inserted in the skies and clouds, or upon the same. Most every eyewitness would swear under oath, that they saw a real "thing". An "enemy" army can be ordered to surrender by a Deity speaking to them from a cloud (by holographic magic) ordering them to lay down their arms.

Controlling satellites for military, media, and communications purposes, has been the NRO. Until several years ago, it was forbidden for the monopoly press to even confirm the existence of the NRO. A huge super-secret facility near the Capitol has been built for NRO costing more than 300 million dollars. This, without members of Congress on any budget committee knowing of the project or at least, denying that they know. [A story for another time is how key members of the House and the Senate are stooges for the secret political police.]

CLIP

The purpose? Plan B. Since the Moscow government is no longer our "enemy" (if they ever really were), then earthlings have to be controlled, to deal with "enemies" from some faraway galaxy. "Enemies" or "Friends" supposedly sending us some kind of messages elegantly embroidered in the earth. With a financial collapse expected, these methods of controlling the populace are even more strategic and urgent.

By the way, about nine years ago our weekly one-hour public access Cable TV Show, "Broadsides", dared discuss an early version of the Plan B scenario. As we then stated, the plan was created to deal with expected financial collapse, by controlling the population, the easiest way, with vast superstitions and such, in the absence of the Moscow "enemies". One well-informed scientists, who would not allow us to use his name, did confirm our basic contentions.

If ever we re-name our website, perhaps we should call it "Ahead of the Parade", which we have been for more than forty years, with the jeopardy and rewards of plusses and minuses. More coming...

Stay tuned.

Perils of Cocaine Abuse

Two recent political leaders allegedly had this nefarious habit.
Both came to power after dubious elections, by non-electorial and irregular methods.
Both nations immediately experienced attacks on famous public buildings.
Both blamed an ethnic minority before forensics had any evidence.
Both led "witch-hunts" against the accused minority.
Both suspended civil liberties "temporarily."
Both put the citizenry under surveillance.
Both maintained secret and clandestine governments.
Both launched wars against most of the world.
One had a funny mustache. Can you name the other one?
