Rising Phoenix Series #42: We Are Those We Have Been Waiting For!
There is PLENTY of amazing - sometimes even exhilarating - stuff in this compilation which I'm very happy to bring to your attention. But of all the amazing things you'll find in those 100+pages, what feels to me more important than everything else right now is what is at the beginning of it, which is this...
The Rainbow Warriors http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utBkbJIYMy8
The story and legend from the Native Americans People about the Tribe of people from many walks of life, that will rise to save the Earth. (This webpage is also recommended at the end of this inspiring video)
... which has a most special resonance to me because we are, after all, co-creators and co-stewards of the Earth Rainbow Network, and we are all to various degrees a bit like the prophesied "Warriors of the Rainbow"...
... and what's at the end of it -- We Need a Dream, America! -- which came to my attention today.
Yet, I don't want you to think for a moment that what's in between is not that much interesting.
There are many wonderful feedbacks from several ERN subscribers...
...a brilliant initiative from my good friend Gus Makreas (International Prayer/Meditation to Support Dennis Kucinich) -- which I hope we will all support and help network widely, because if there has ever been a time when a soul so in tune with God's Will such as Dennis needed real and sustained support from the People, it is NOW ... because as Gus wrote "He is the main driving force of true progressive political change - Sea Change - in the U.S. right now!"...
... and there are many other gems, opportunities for progressive, enlightened actions, several passionate letters from various ERN subscribers on a number of key issues we all need to dig deeply, some really heart-stirring, complacency-punching pieces of information, crucially important environmental news, and in short a full plate of reading material that should keep you busily happy for a couple hours... at least!
Incidentally, I do not expect to have time to prepare another compilation for you this month as I have an important book translation (The Intention Experiment) to complete for the French publisher (Ariane Editions) for whom I work. And talking about book translation, I have a very good news to share with all French speaking subscribers. Thanks to a God-sent angel, I will have the privilege to translate in French the 3 other books from Suzy Ward (Matthew Tell Me About Heaven is already done) as well as Christ Returns - Speaks His Truth in the near future. I'll keep you informed as they'll become available.
So until we connect again, I wish a happy Thanksgiving to all our US subscribers and may Love and happiness always radiate for you all :-)
P.S. Your feedback is as always welcomed and may be included in a coming compilation - unless you prefer it is not. Circulating this compilation (or any part of it) and personally inviting your correspondents to subscribe to this list would also help enlarge the circle of people who have access to this material. Please include the following note and the URL address for the archived copy below along with your forwards, so others may have the opportunity to explore the original copy, if they so choose.

"Dear Jean... You follow your own believed mission with unusual persistence and obviously long hours of hard work in order to compile what are actually political dossiers. From quantum physics, from recent movies such as What the Bleep Do We Know, David Icke, Anastasia and from inside the self, the truth is, there is only love. The dark exists by the power of the mind to create it. Whatever we focus on, we create. Focusing on the dark political agendas creates more of the same. Once the faith is placed on only love, then we literally see the darkness recedes. For all the years you have given your faith to exposing both good and evil and what has changed in the "world"? It is the power of focus, the choice to live each present moment only giving attention to the positive that creates it. We become what we think about. There IS no external reality "out there". The mind, the brain is a holographic creating phenomenon and hence the crystal skulls. Give your readers the opportunity to read this, if you will be so kind. The Word has the power to create. Look at the words you use. If negative words can affect water molecules, what are they doing over the Internet? Please, I write not to criticise. I just know from experience what changes came over my own life when I stopped giving my energy to the negative and understood the "world" is illusion."
- Vladimir (firstname.lastname@example.org) from the Czech Republic -- Message found in the ERN guestbook
"What is happening now is, on one level at least, simply an effect created by our past thoughts, words and deeds. We create the future by focusing on what we what to create both in this moment and in the next. Still, we cannot simply ignore or deny what is happening now. I think the key is this: to not judge, condemn or go into fear, but simply to choose who we are in response to what is going on. The more we choose to be loving, fearless, honest, etc., the more that will shape the future - how all of the "negative" things turn out. Can we remain detached, by which I mean keep an open mind and an open heart to the unfolding of events and intend that everything unfold for the highest good? It is the energy that we attach to what is going on that fuels it. If we go into fear, the fear fuels all the things that we are saying we do not choose to have in our world. If we simply become aware of what is going on, and respond without the charge of fear or condemnation, there is no fuel on which the negative can feed and grow. That is not to say deny the fear or sadness that arises, but to notice that it is there, surrender it, and ask to be filled with peace and faith and love for all. Then the light shines in the darkness and the darkness is illuminated."

"One of the probabilities that we spoke to in earlier communications was a downturn of the US economy. We said this two years ago and indicated that November of 2007 would be the most likely last window where this would take place and, indeed, it is unfolding as we had seen it. We wish to say to you, however, that the situation is far worse than is currently realized, so you would do well to prepare yourselves for difficult financial times. But that is not the perilous passage of which we speak. We are, rather, speaking to your emotional life, the life of your heart and your spirit, for it is unquestionable that the unfolding events of the next few years will emotionally strike those who have sensitive hearts and who dream of a better world. (...) Part of this chaotic phase is the simple result of the shift from one dimension of consciousness to another. As Earth and humanity move from 4th dimensional consciousness to 5th dimensional consciousness -- which is outside the constraints of time and space as you collectively perceive them -- there is a tension between the old world and the new world. You are right in the midst of this.As more and more people experience paradigm shifts driven by sudden leaps in spiritual understanding, the old world is undermined. The new world with its new cultural, political and economic presuppositions has not yet blossomed, so you are in a kind of no-person's land where the old views no longer work, but the new views have not yet come into usable expression. So this is one reason for the difficulties you are experiencing in this dimensional shift."
"Mother-Father God, I thank You for the Desire, the Hope, the Faith, the Willingness and the Experience of Loving You with all my mind, all my heart, and all my soul, creating perfect Gratitude, perfect Love, and perfect Faith... filling my heart with Songs of joy, Waters of Life and Clothing of Light... I love You, I love You, I love You! Thank You!"
- Kelley Elkins (firstname.lastname@example.org) who also wrote: "Every time I say or think it... it raises my energy and my faith in All of God, Goddess... All That Is. I do not begin to understand where we are going or why... I believe eventually, we will all arrive at the same place... some sooner and others later... And what is time when we have eternity? I consider myself a humble bridge builder, not to be the first across, simply to help get it built so that it can be crossed... And I know that this bridge is inside each of us. Not someplace out there. As Heaven, the Kingdom of, is also, not out there some place, but within each of us. We are on an incredible journey with each of us having front row seats to the greatest show on Earth... We get to be in Awe, watching everything on this path of Heart."

Today (Nov 13), former premier and outspoken opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was put under house arrest to prevent her from leading a cross-country caravan to protest the military rule in Pakistan. Sign this petition to call for her release. Bhutto is urging the international community to stop backing President Musharraf -- who imposed emergency rule on November 3 -- and "to stop backing the man whose dictatorship threatens to engulf this nuclear-armed state in chaos." Nonetheless, President Musharraf vigorously defended the emergency rule, insisting that it would not interfere with free and fair elections. We need to act now. In Pakistan, a prolonged state of emergency will pave the way for an increase in human rights abuses, torture and even more arbitrary detentions and disappearances. Emergency powers are not above the law. Call on General Musharraf to put an end to the state of emergency and to restore constitutional rights.

Wish you could make your lifestyle Greener, but aren't sure how to begin? On the Friday after Thanksgiving, give yourself an opportunity to notice how addicted you are to the "Global Consumer Society" - see if you can set your routine up so that, on that one day, you BUY NOTHING - no malls, no sales, no gasoline, not even a latte - it's harder than it seems, and it's possible that you will find your addiction so strong that your mind won't even allow you to consider it - watch yourself sneer as you read the paragraph below - see your mind build rationales and reasons to not participate - be amazed at how resistant you are to experience even ONE day without spending money to buy SOMETHING - if you decide to try it, notice how easy it is to forget - and, if you somehow actually get to that Friday still committed, marvel at the clever ways your addiction creates you NEEDING to make a purchase or two - one way or the other, you'll learn a LOT about why things are the way they are, and how you, yourself, and your habits contribute to making and keeping them that way - you'll see what makes it all so hard to change, and understand much more about your personal power in the day-to-day situation - So c'mon - it only happens once a year - set yourself up any way you need to, to participate in: Buy Nothing Day"
Buy Nothing Day: Friday, November 23rd (from midnight, 11/22, until midnight 11/23) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buy_Nothing_Day
Buy Nothing Day is an informal day of protest against consumerism observed by social activists. In 2007, Buy Nothing Day falls on November 23rd in North America and November 24th internationally.. It was founded by Vancouver artist Ted Dave and subsequently promoted by the Canadian Adbusters magazine. The first Buy Nothing Day was organized in Vancouver in September of 1992 "as a day for society to examine the issue of over-consumption". In 1997, it was moved to the Friday after American Thanksgiving, which is one of the top 10 busiest shopping days in the United States. Outside of North America, Buy Nothing Day is celebrated on the following Saturday. Despite controversies, Adbusters managed to advertise Buy Nothing Day on CNN, but many other major television networks declined to air their ads. Soon, campaigns started appearing in United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, the Netherlands, and Norway. Participation now includes more than 65 nations. While critics of the day charge that Buy Nothing Day simply causes participants to buy the next day, Adbusters states that it "isn't just about changing your habits for one day" but "about starting a lasting lifestyle commitment to consuming less and producing less waste". Dolphins save surfer from becoming sharks bait (Nov. 8, 2007) http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21689083/
Surfer Todd Endris needed a miracle. The shark a monster great white that came out of nowhere had hit him three times, peeling the skin off his back and mauling his right leg to the bone. Thats when a pod of bottlenose dolphins intervened, forming a protective ring around Endris, allowing him to get to shore, where quick first aid provided by a friend saved his life. Truly a miracle, Endris told TODAYs Natalie Morales on Thursday. (...) No one knows why dolphins protect humans, but stories of the marine mammals rescuing humans go back to ancient Greece, according to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society. A year ago in New Zealand, the group reports, four lifeguards were saved from sharks in the same way Endris was by dolphins forming a protective ring. CLIP

OPEC Interested in Non-Dollar Currency (Nov 18, 2007) http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gxBYVrPtuASwQRX9jQjwKQq-1F8wD8T0AC6G0
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Sunday that OPEC's members have expressed interest in converting their cash reserves into a currency other than the depreciating U.S. dollar, which he called a "worthless piece of paper." His comments at the end of a rare summit of OPEC heads of state exposed fissures within the 12-member cartel especially after U.S. ally Saudi Arabia was reluctant to mention concerns about the falling dollar in the summit's final declaration (...) Iran and Venezuela have proposed trading oil in a basket of currencies to replace the historic link to the dollar, but they had not been able to generate support from enough fellow OPEC members many of whom, including Saudi Arabia, are staunch U.S. allies. Opec plan to impact climate meet in Bali (18 Nov 2007) http://tinyurl.com/ynl22k
RIYADH: The announcement by Opec, the cartel of oil exporters supplying a third of the world's oil, to set up a $3 billion fund for research into carbon capture and storage, is likely to have a bearing on the major UN climate change conference at Bali a few weeks from now. Opec is expected to start with a $1 billion fund for green research, the signals for which have been all been there since the ministerial rounds preceding the 3rd Opec summit that began earlier this week. (...) The Opec fallout will impact the UN conference in Bali which is envisaged to start negotiations on a new international climate change regime and Al-Naimi will be among those attending. Thus, his statement at this juncture is significant. Many see the Bali conference as a make-or-break point for international efforts to stop the planet from getting hotter. Executive secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Yvo de Boer feels there need not be any trade-off. "International action on climate change is a war against emissions, not a war against oil... I think the debate here points to a constructive willingness to participate in international dialogue about climate change," he said during a media interaction. CLIP
OPEC to put carbon capture at heart of new green agenda (November 16, 2007) http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5iqJZe8IdMIp6g4N0ltDy3pPHbIjg
RIYADH (AFP) OPEC leaders are set to make carbon capture and storage the centerpiece of their new-found green agenda by urging greater use of the emerging technique to curb carbon emissions, Algeria's energy minister said Friday. Chakib Khelil, reading from a draft declaration expected to be approved at the end of an OPEC summit, said point three would be "energy and environment: carbon storage could reduce the impact of fossil fuels on climate change and developed countries have the technology on this."Earlier a source told AFP that the joint communique to be issued by OPEC leaders on Sunday would include a "big announcement on the environment."At a conference in Spain, UN experts meanwhile agreed Friday on a draft report that warns global warming may have far-reaching and irreversible consequences. The report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) encapsulates a massive overview of the global-warming problem, with the goal of guiding policymakers for the next five years.Carbon capture technology, with which oil producer Norway, a non-OPEC member, is leading the way, consists of trapping carbon dioxide and storing it long-term underground. The technology is based on removing harmful gases from major industrial activities, mainly power generation, and then storing it or injecting it into mature oilfields. It has won support from the United States and the oil industry because it potentially offers a partial solution to the climate change problem without reducing dependence on oil or curbing consumption. But it is only in the development stage and requires massive investment to make it commercially viable. Three pilot projects are operating in Algeria, Canada and the North Sea off the Norwegian coast. Some have also pointed to other drawbacks, notably that the underground storage chamber could rupture which would then release a huge bubble of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, worsening global warming at a stroke. Nevertheless, the UN's top climate change official said Thursday here that a commitment to carbon capture would be "very constructive outcome of the deliberations at the heads of state level" at the OPEC summit.
Preparing for Life After Oil (November 8, 2007) http://www.alternet.org/module/printversion/66625
This past May, in an unheralded and almost unnoticed move, the Energy Department signaled a fundamental, near epochal shift in US and indeed world history: we are nearing the end of the Petroleum Age and have entered the Age of Insufficiency. The department stopped talking about "oil" in its projections of future petroleum availability and began speaking of "liquids." The global output of "liquids," the department indicated, would rise from 84 million barrels of oil equivalent (mboe) per day in 2005 to a projected 117.7 mboe in 2030 -- barely enough to satisfy anticipated world demand of 117.6 mboe. Aside from suggesting the degree to which oil companies have ceased being mere suppliers of petroleum and are now purveyors of a wide variety of liquid products -- including synthetic fuels derived from natural gas, corn, coal and other substances -- this change hints at something more fundamental: we have entered a new era of intensified energy competition and growing reliance on the use of force to protect overseas sources of petroleum. Pentagon Cover Up: 15,000 or more US casualties in Iraq War By Mike Whitney http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article18737.htm
The Pentagon has been concealing the true number of American casualties in the Iraq War. The real number exceeds 15,000 and CBS News can prove it. CBSs Investigative Unit wanted to do a report on the number of suicides in the military and submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to the Department of Defense. After 4 months they received a document which showed--that between 1995 and 2007--there were 2,200 suicides among active duty soldiers. Baloney. The Pentagon was covering up the real magnitude of the suicide epidemic. Following an exhaustive investigation of veterans suicide data collected from 45 states; CBS discovered that in 2005 alone THERE WERE AT LEAST 6,256 AMONG THOSE WHO SERVED IN THE ARMED FORCES. THATS 120 EACH AND EVERY WEEK IN JUST ONE YEAR. That is not a typo. Active and retired military personnel, mostly young veterans between the ages of 20 to 24, are returning from combat and killing themselves in record numbers. We can assume that "multiple-tours of duty" in a war-zone have precipitated a mental health crisis of which the public is entirely unaware and which the Pentagon is in total denial. If we add the 6,256 suicide victims from 2005 to the official 3,865 reported combat casualties; we get a sum of 10,121. Even a low-ball estimate of similar 2004 and 2006 suicide figures, would mean that the total number of US casualties from the Iraq war now exceed 15,000. Thats right; 15,000 dead US servicemen and women in a war that--as yet--has no legal or moral justification. (...) The rash of suicides is the logical upshot of Bushs war. Returning soldiers are traumatized by their experience and now they are killing themselves in droves. Maybe we should have thought about that before we invaded.

Number of children dying higher than when the country was under sanctions. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article18734.htm
Child mortality in Iraq has spiralled because of the tense security situation, deteriorating health services and lack of medical supplies, say experts.According to a report released in May 2007 by aid agency Save the Children, Iraqs child mortality rate has increased by a staggering 150 per cent since 1990, more than any other country. The report, entitled State of the Worlds Mothers 2007, said that some 122,000 Iraqi children - the equivalent of one in eight - died in 2005, before reaching their fifth birthday. More than half of the deaths were among newborn babies in their first month of life. Even before the latest war, Iraqi mothers and children were facing a grave humanitarian crisis caused by years of repression, conflict and external sanctions, said the report.Since 2003, electricity shortages, insufficient clean water, deteriorating health services and soaring inflation have worsened already difficult living conditions. The study listed pneumonia and diarrhoea as major killers of children in Iraq, together accounting for over 30 per cent of child deaths.Conservative estimates place increases in infant mortality following the 2003 invasion of Iraq at 37 per cent, it said." Five journalists were killed in separate attacks in just one day last month."

The UK has more than 4 million CCTV cameras. Its national DNA database, the largest in the world, is supposed to have some 4.25 million people on it by the end of next year - or roughly one in every 14 inhabitants. Somalia Worst Humanitarian Crisis in Africa, U.N. Says (November 19, 2007) http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/20/world/africa/20somalia.html
AFGOOYE, Somalia, Nov. 19 The worst humanitarian crisis in Africa, several United Nations officials said, may not be unfolding in Darfur, but here, along a 20-mile strip of busted-up asphalt. A year ago, the road between the market town of Afgooye and the capital of Mogadishu was just another typical Somali byway, lined with overgrown cactuses and the occasional bullet-riddled building. Now it is a corridor teeming with misery, with 200,000 recently displaced people crammed into swelling camps that are rapidly running out of food. Natheefa Ali, who trudged up this road a week ago to escape the blood bath that Mogadishu has turned into, said Monday that her 10-month-old baby was so malnourished she cant swallow. Look, Ms. Natheefa said, pointing to her daughters splotchy legs, her skin is falling off, too. United Nations officials said that Somalia has higher malnutrition rates, more current bloodshed and many fewer aid workers than Darfur, which is often publicized as the worlds most pressing humanitarian crisis and has taken clear priority in terms of getting United Nations-backed peacekeepers. The relentless urban combat in Mogadishu, between an unpopular transitional government installed partially with American help and a determined Islamist insurgency, has driven waves of desperate people up the Afgooye road, where more than 70 camps of twigs and plastic have popped up seemingly overnight. The people here are hungry, exposed, sick and dying. And the few aid organizations willing to brave a lawless, notoriously dangerous environment cannot keep up with their needs, like providing milk to the thousands of babies with fading heartbeats and bulging eyes. United Nations officials working on Somalia are trying to draw more attention to the countrys plight, which they feel has fallen into Darfurs shadow. They have recently organized several trips, including one on Monday, for journalists to see for themselves. The situation in Somalia is the worst on the continent, said Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah, the top United Nations official for Somalia. Many of these kids are going to die, said Eric Laroche, the head of United Nations humanitarian operations in Somalia. Apparently in response to an attack on one of its units, and the dragging of a soldiers mutilated body through the citys streets, an Ethiopian mortar reportedly exploded in Mogadishus Bakara market on November 9, killing eight civilians. A number of Somalis were also found dead the following day, some believed to have been rounded up by Ethiopian forces the night before. Nearly 50 civilians have reportedly been killed and 100 wounded in the two-day fighting spree between fighters loyal to the Union of Islamic Courts and government forces and their Ethiopian allies. A report, issued by Human Rights Watch, chastised both Ethiopian troops and insurgents for the bloodletting. Peter Takirambudde, the watchdogs Africa director, was quoted as saying, 'The international community should condemn these attacks and hold combatants accountable for violations of humanitarian law - including mutilating captured combatants and executing detainees.' Of course, one cannot realistically expect the international community to take on a constructive involvement in the conflict. Various members of this community have already played a most destructive role in Somalias 16-year-old civil war, which fragmented a nation that had long struggled to achieve a sense of sovereignty and national cohesion. To dismiss the war in Somalia as yet another protracted conflict between warlords and insurgents would indeed be unjust because the countrys history has consistently been marred by colonial greed and unwarranted foreign interventions. These gave rise to various proxy governments, militias and local middlemen, working in the interests of those obsessed with the geopolitical importance of the Horn of Africa. (...) The last intervention devastated the countrys chances of unity. It now stands divided between the transitional government, Ethiopia (both backed by the UN, the US and the African Union) and the Islamic courts (allegedly backed by Eritrea and some Arab Gulf governments). Recently, the UN ruled out any chances for an international peacekeeping force, and the few African countries who promised troops are yet to deliver (with the exception of Uganda). This situation leaves Somalia once more under the mercy of foreign powers and self-serving internal forces, foreshadowing yet more bloodshed. Our informed support is essential now because the Somali people have suffered enough. Their plight is urgent and it deserves a much deeper understanding, alongside immediate attention.
Hundreds honour man hit by Taser at airport (Nov 18, 2007) http://www.thestar.com/News/article/277476
Kamloops, B.C.Hundreds of people packed a funeral home here yesterday to both grieve and express their outrage over the death of Robert Dziekanski, the Polish man who died last month at the Vancouver airport. Many of those attending the memorial service in Kamloops, the town where Dziekanski was supposed to start his new life in Canada, only knew him through the lens of a video camera.Millions of people around the world saw the video of his last moments a panic-stricken man barricading himself into the international arrivals hall before police shot him with a Taser gun.His mother, Zofia Cisowski, wiped away her tears to quietly narrate a slideshow of Dziekanski's photographs shown during the memorial celebration of the 40-year-old man's life."That's my brother, that's my uncle, that's us," Cisowski whispered to pictures of her son, a smiling, swarthy man, arms wrapped around family in his native Poland.Cisowski had worked for seven years to save up enough money to sponsor her son.He was supposed to look after her and support her as she aged, according to Maciej Krych, Poland's consul general in Vancouver."The people in Poland are still in shock. They cannot believe something like this could happen in Canada," said Krych, who vowed that the Polish government will continue pressing the federal department of foreign affairs for answers.Dziekanski was cremated following a private funeral two weeks ago. His mother, who plans to keep part of her son's ashes with her in Kamloops and return part to Poland, said she hopes some good comes from her son's death. (...) Among the nearly 300 people who attended the memorial service, a handful were outside carrying signs urging the RCMP to ban the use of Taser guns.Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day has ordered a review of the weapon, but has resisted calls by critics galvanized by Dziekanski's death for a moratorium on the guns, which deliver 50,000 volts of electricity to their targets. Since 2002, Amnesty International, which has advocated banning Tasers, reports that 17 people have died in Canada as a result of the weapon. CLIP

Warren Buffett to Congress: Keep Taxing the Mega-Rich http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/111907O.shtml
Chuck Collins reports for AlterNet, "Billionaire Warren Buffett testified before the Senate Finance Committee on Wednesday in defense of the federal estate tax, the nation's only tax on inherited wealth. Buffett invoked the historical roots of the estate tax, established in 1916 during the Gilded Age to put a brake on anti-democratic concentrations of wealth and power. 'Dynastic wealth, the enemy of meritocracy, is on the rise,' Buffett told the panel. 'Equality of opportunity has been on the decline. A progressive and meaningful estate tax is needed to curb the movement of a democracy toward plutocracy.'"
Medical Tyranny in Maryland: Parents Threatened With Jail Time for Not Vaccinating Children (November 14, 2007) http://www.newstarget.com/022242.html
Recommended by Kelley Elkins (email@example.com) who wrote: "Apparently the Attorney General, and judges of Maryland believe they own the citizens and their children of the state of Maryland. Yikes! My children are up and out of the house, I'm not sure what I would do... move? Brings to mind the mother in California who's 17 year young son was allegedly healed of a cancer through alternative medicine. Well, she couldn't let it rest... the child ended up in a hospital for a checkup and the hospital called the police who arrested her and the hospital gave the young man chemo and radiation therapy. Now this is what I call freedom up against the wall!Where does this end? How does one get to have a say in whether or not to have mercury and other toxins injected into their children... apparently with no regard to religion or just personal sanity! This is the beginnings of literal police state. Gone are the Republics, where most of the local government had the public interest at heart. China may make democracy before we can reclaim ours. Wouldn't that be a hoot! And yet, our highest opportunity is to be thankful for what we do have and watch that gratitude grow in to something wonderful. And be processing our subconscious programs and tapes that set us up for drama/trauma. We have a choice we can be bummed out and continue down that road or be in gratitude and go up that road. Think about it it really can be that simple. Now, I'm not suggesting we try a stalag or gulag, but Jack Schwartz could not be held down emotionally. He knew they could not control his emotions. He came out of the concentration camps of Germany with his head up and went on to amaze the world. We can to, without having to go through what he experienced. It is what we are choosing now and what we continue to choose. I love the line from Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, "I'd rather be happy than right".... What a concept... we can all be participating in this, 24/7. Thanks jean for your constant vigil on what is going on...God Bless you!"

Bilderberg 2007 - Towards a One World Empire? http://www.nexusmagazine.com/articles/Bilderberg2007.html
Discussions at the 2007 Bilderberg Group meetings covered concerns over the World Bank presidency, Russia's muscle-flexing on energy issues and the failure of US-led NATO forces in Afghanistan. -- The Sun has set on Bilderberg 2007 in Istanbul, Turkey. After a sumptuous lunch on this warm and sunny 3rd June, most Bilderbergers returned to their countries of choice, freshly armed with precise instructions from the Steering Committee on how to proceed in covertly expanding the powers of One World Government. Amongst this year's luminaries in attendance were: Henry Kissinger; Henry Kravis of KKR; Marie-Josée Kravis of Hudson Institute; Vernon Jordan; Etienne Davignon, Bilderberg Group President; Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands, daughter of one of the founders, Prince Bernhard; and the King and Queen of Spain.
As a rhetorical question, can someone please explain to me how it is that progressive liberals such as John Edwards and Hillary Clinton as well as do-gooder humanitarians with multiple social projects on the go, such as David Rockefeller and every Royal House in Europe, can perennially attend Bilderberg meetings knowing that the final objective of this despicable group of hoodlums is a fascist One World Empire? How could it be orchestrated? The idea is to give to each country a political constitution and an appropriate national economic structure, organised for the following purposes: (1) to place political power into the hands of chosen people and eliminate all intermediaries; (2) to establish a maximum concentration of industries and suppress all unwarranted competition; (3) to establish absolute control of prices of all goods and raw materials (Bilderbergers make it possible through their iron-grip control of The World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the World Trade Organization); and (4) to create judicial and social institutions that would prevent all extremes of action. (...) The Bilderberg Group is not the end but the means to a future One World Government. This organisation has grown beyond its secretive beginnings to become a virtual shadow government which decides in total secrecy at annual meetings how its plans are to be carried out. The ultimate goal of this nightmare future is to transform Earth into a prison planet by bringing about a single globalised marketplace, controlled by a One World Government, policed by a United World Army, financially regulated by a World Bank, and populated by a microchipped population whose life's needs have been stripped down to materialism and survival-work, buy, procreate, sleep-all connected to a global computer that monitors our every move. And it is becoming easier because the development of telecommunications technology together with profound advances in present-day knowledge and new methods of behaviour engineering to manipulate individual conduct are converting what, in other epochs of history, were only evil intentions into a disturbing new reality. Each new measure, viewed on its own, may seem an aberration, but a whole host of changes, as part of an ongoing continuum, constitutes a shift towards total enslavement. But there is hope. In almost every corner of the planet, stress points are beginning to fracture and people are starting to take sides. There is a general awakening taking place as people hold mirrors up to the irrationality that's being imposed upon them. This awakening is beginning to empower our collective learning and understanding. You see, the powers-that-be have told us that world events are too difficult for the layperson to understand. They lied! We have been told that national secrets must be zealously protected. Indeed, they must! No government wants its citizens to discover that its best and brightest participate in massive collusion, conspiracy and pillaging of the planet. Now, as the year 2007 unfolds, we find ourselves at the crossroads. The road we take from here will determine the very future of humanity and whether we will become an electronic global police state or remain free human beings. We must always remember that it is not up to God to bring us back from the "New Dark Age" planned for us. It is up to us. Forewarned is forearmed. We will never find the right answers if we don't ask the right questions.

ScienceDaily (Nov. 13, 2007) Hydrogen as an everyday, environmentally friendly fuel source may be closer than we think, according to Penn State researchers. "The energy focus is currently on ethanol as a fuel, but economical ethanol from cellulose is 10 years down the road," says Bruce E. Logan, the Kappe professor of environmental engineering. "First you need to break cellulose down to sugars and then bacteria can convert them to ethanol." Yellowstone Is Rising on Swollen "Supervolcano" http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/11/071108-yellowstone.html
Yellowstone National Park is rising. Its central region, called the Yellowstone caldera, has been moving upward since mid-2004 at a rate of up to three inches (seven centimeters) a yearmore than three times faster than has ever been measured. The surface is inflating like a bellows due to an infusion of magma about 6 miles (10 kilometers) underground, according to a new study published in tomorrow's issue of the journal Science. But that doesn't mean Yellowstone is about to go the way of Mount St. Helens." There's no evidence of an imminent eruption or hydrothermal explosion," said Robert Smith, a geophysics professor at the University of Utah who co-authored the study."Supervolcano" Under YellowstoneYellowstone is situated on a giant, geologically active feature known as a supervolcano."It's hundreds of times bigger than Mount St. Helens," Smith said, referring to the active volcano in Washington State. Much of the park sits in a caldera, or crater, some 40 miles (70 kilometers) across, which formed when the cone of the massive volcano collapsed in a titanic eruption 640,000 years ago. The supervolcano has produced three similarly large blasts in the past two million years, with 30 smaller eruptions since the caldera formed. The volcano's most recent flare-up was 70,000 years ago, and volcanic heat continues to fuel the park's famous geysers and hot springs.

Surfer Dude Stuns Physicists With Theory of Everything (14/11/2007) http://tinyurl.com/2beznl
An impoverished surfer has drawn up a new theory of the universe, seen by some as the Holy Grail of physics, which has received rave reviews from scientists. (...) Although the work of 39 year old Garrett Lisi still has a way to go to convince the establishment, let alone match the achievements of Albert Einstein, the two do have one thing in common: Einstein also began his great adventure in theoretical physics while outside the mainstream scientific establishment, working as a patent officer, though failed to achieve the Holy Grail, an overarching explanation to unite all the particles and forces of the cosmos. Now Lisi, currently in Nevada, has come up with a proposal to do this. Lee Smolin at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, describes Lisi's work as "fabulous". "It is one of the most compelling unification models I've seen in many, many years," he says. "Although he cultivates a bit of a surfer-guy image its clear he has put enormous effort and time into working the complexities of this structure out over several years," Prof Smolin tells The Telegraph. "Some incredibly beautiful stuff falls out of Lisi's theory," adds David Ritz Finkelstein at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta. "This must be more than coincidence and he really is touching on something profound." CLIP
I am writing to you from Aotearoa, New Zealand, with much gratitude for all you do. I read with interest your observation of people, who may have a hard time with the less savory aspects of our reality. I have to admit, as it is beyond my own conscience-ness, some topics such as strategic genocide are difficult to absorb. It's almost surreal to know that there is a power so mad in greed that can cause so much pain & grief. But knowing the truth exposes all unto light, so the healing begins. If I find the material hard to absorb, I remind my self of the human spirit/s that is living/or lived the monstrous experience. They have lived the experience to expose the atrocities. We all must have the courage to receive the truth, expose the darkness for the weakness it truly is, all in compassion & in Unity.
Just a brief note to express my infinite gratitude to you. I am constantly amazed that one who compiles the outrageous reports of darkness enveloping our world is also a brilliant conduit for sharing the highest truths.
I have loved these letters ever since you mentioned them and I went to the web site about a year ago. I have been hoping for another one recently; I dont know whether this one is new or recycled (NOTE: It is a brand new message!), but it is certainly a magnificent recipe for peace, within and without. I have long been suspicious of the current popularity of the Law of Attraction, believing that there are far more powerful forces than our conscious minds shaping our futureseven if they are within ourselves, they are certainly within ourSelves and not obvious for us to access with our daily mind of desire. These letters resound with truth.
But I also want to appreciate you, for your great Mission of service throughout the years. You do not often hear from me, but I and countless people like me rely on you, for the back story on the news, for reports from the realms so few can access, and for your weekly meditations and global prayers. Of course, we are all unique, each with our special role to play at this crucial moment on our planet. But you serve us all, with perfect generosity and love, and I bow to you, dear soul.
So Jean - what will you do in the face of His #6 - which says (to paraphrase) not to give a thought to all of the "bad" in the world but to stay continually focused on the Kingdom you wish to create? Do you/we cease to learn/reveal the truth of what is happening here now?
AND MY REPLY WAS:
Thanks for your challenging question Bonnie.
If I could, I would only send Light-oriented stuff believe me! Nevertheless, this is a necessary balancing act I feel I have to carry on - striving to highlight the positive signs ahead while keeping an eye on the rear-view mirror to make sure the chaos doesn't catch up with us.
Yet I know that soon we will be able to confidently only look ahead and let the past fade away as we pick up steam in our Mission of Redemption...
I would be happy to hear your view on this - same thing for everyone else tickled with this line of questioning...
The common wisdom in us all is what should guide us ahead in this, me thinks... along with a little Help from our many friends beyond this sphere of existence...
AND BONNIE REPLIED
What is happening now is, on one level at least, simply an effect created by our past thoughts, words and deeds.
Then the light shines in the darkness and the darkness is illuminated.
AND THE RECORDER OF CHRIST'S MESSAGES WHO HAD RECEIVED A COPY OF MY REPLY TO BONNIE VOLUNTEERED THIS IMPORTANT COMMENT ON THIS KEY ISSUE...
May I, the Recorder of Christ's words, be allowed to join in the debate?
First of all, I must point out that Christ descends in frequencies of vibration to be able to review our condition and to reach my mind. We live in the world of effects. We are the created. Christ speaks from the dimension of creativity and causation.
He has intervened at this time when we are facing huge world upheavals and disturbances, to help us to pull ourselves out of the mental-emotional morass we have created of ourselves. He has shown us clearly how this may be done.
In his Letters and in his latest Message, he has told us how the manifestation of 'matter' and events come about.
We create an electrical blueprint with our mind imagery and, with our emotions (fear or faith), magnetically fill in the blueprint and bring it into visible form. Or, we may just give added power to whatever it is we fear. The tools of the Creator and CONSCIOUSNESS are the directives of mental/emotional electromagnetism. This is an electromagnetic world made visible through the exercise of our thoughts and feelings. At the back of it all is the original ENERGY giving LIFE energy to everything taking on form. This energy transcends electromagnetism. It is the energy in the space of the atom.
When Yuri Geller bent his spoons, he simply said: 'Bend' and the spoons bent. I saw them for myself. He said to the broken watches: Work' and they worked. With mental effort, I have caused a broken watch to work again. Some people can cause objects on a table to move just by mind power. Whatever the command is - it is always obeyed - spoons bent, they did not twist, watches worked, healers heal, they never cause worse problems.
Consciousness - whether Divine or human - is the causation of everything in the world.
Therefore, if you have fearful people all predicting things which may not happen and frequently do not happen, you have a great deal of negative consciousness energies lying around waiting to happen.
Christ never says: 'You must.' Throughout the years I have experienced his presence, he has only pointed out the way to go if I'm seeking well-being and peace. In the final analysis, it is I who have had to make the choices. The one time I ignored his advice and followed my own way.... it was a long and painful way back again.
AND THEN SUZANNE WARD WHO ALSO RECEIVED A Cc OF MY REPLY TO BONNIE SENT THIS:
Jean, Matthew would like to say a bit here:
"Dear soul Jean, this is Matthew greeting you and your readers. I wish to say only a few words about the thought forms that each of you creates by the intensity of your focus on any situation. Being truthfully informed is wise, but do not let your knowledge pull you into the energy of events that are ending third density's darkness. An investment of emotions and intense thoughts about those events keeps their momentum going, just as the energy of your emotions and thoughts about what you want in your world adds momentum to the light that is ushering in a glorious era on Earth. Stay steadfast in the light-love that is most powerful force in the cosmos, knowing that countless souls in spirit and in body soon will be rejoicing with you because your most radiant visions have become the reality that you were born to create."
FINALLY BONNIE MENTIONED in reply to this invitation from me:
"Feel free to send in more such enlightening contributions whenever you are inspired to do so."
"I do email a monthly ezine, Healing from the Heart, to my group and post the monthly articles on my website, www.transformativecoaching.net - Feel free to include these if you would like (with copyright).
Thanks SO VERY MUCH for lightening up in the last compilation. I agree it is important to be informed, yet over-informing when we can't always do something about it is, well, overwhelming! The more we focus on what we can change (usually our thoughts, how we live, treat others) makes a huge impact not to be diminished.

NOTE from Jean: Stephen Calkins (firstname.lastname@example.org) also reported back to me after searching this implausible story and came to this conclusion which I support: "The Leo Wanta story is a very high class farce, with a lot of energy going into it, (to possibly cover-up some major issues with the large banks at this time, perhaps to distract people from what is happening, or perhaps just to confuse and distract as always!! (...) While it appears that some people have been swept up in this ploy, this story clearly doesn't hold up to scrutiny."

Support Our Troops? Which Troops Would Those Be?
I see the ribbons on the SUVs parked at the mall. I pass the SUVs and then the be-medalled military veterans with their trays of plastic poppy flowers outside the doors of stores. Or be-trayed military cadets, fresh-faced, polished buttons, and unaware what their social club is leading them into. I say to them all, no, I refuse to support any form of death and destruction, whether it be past, present or future. I receive blank stares.
Going back to my car I pass the SUVs again. I feel like climbing on top of one and yelling what I know to be true, to the assembled vehicles and shoppers. I know what theyd all do. Theyd pretend I wasnt there, that they werent hearing what they did hear and drive away as fast as they could, back to their mind-numbing tv, games and newspapers. Perhaps a little web surfing away from the attention of wives and mothers, a little gratuitous soft porn or violence.
Ok then, though, which troops would those be that these numbskulls want us to support?
Would it be the large percentage of homeless war vets in US cities? Oh no, say the naysayers, they arent troops any more. Oh, really? Isnt that the same as saying that they dont matter once theyve finished fighting? Which is the truth, evidenced by the lack of treatment for many returning vets with physical and mental problems.
Would it be the gang members, drug addicts and lesser-intelligence troops who are being recruited in the US now because many young people are waking up and seeing through the recruitment sham?
Would it be the troops in action who raped an Iraqi teenage girl after murdering her family and then setting fire to her body, all fuelled by alcohol?
Would it be the lying military recruiters themselves? Do they really believe what they are telling the kids? Surely not. Advice on how to avoid refusal due to drug addiction. To use the UK term, jobsworths with buzzcuts.
Would it be the troops who dress up as Iraqis and partake in false-flag operations, bombing people and mosques to implicate the enemy?
Would it be the troops who carried out orders to storm the prison where the false-flag soldiers were held, and get them out?
Would it be the troops who, for fear of reprisal, dare not refuse to obey orders that contravene the Geneva Convention?
Would it be the troops who are experts in torture and appear to enjoy it?
Would it mean the Graners of this world?
Would it be the few who have stood up and repudiated the evil for which the military is being used?
And what about troops of daze of yore? Those who, in the words of Smedley Butler, went to fight thinking they were patriotic but in face were fighting an induced war for the profit of the big corporations?
Do your homework.
Come on, challenge me; tell me which troops you mean, you ribbon bearers. Your ribbons are plastic. That says it all.
AWOL Soldier Seeking Treatment Arrested (November 14, 2007) http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/us/AP-Troubled-Soldier.html

Brad Gaskins said he left the base in August 2006 because the Army wasn't providing effective treatment after he was diagnosed with PTSD and severe depression.''They just don't have the resources to handle it, but that's not my fault,'' Gaskins said.Tod Ensign, an attorney with Citizen Soldier, a GI rights group that is representing Gaskins, said the case is part of a ''coming tsunami'' of mental health problems involving Iraq and Afghanistan vets.Last month, the Veterans Administration said more than 100,000 soldiers were being treated for mental health problems, and half of those specifically for PTSD. Subject: Responsibility of U.S. Citizens for their Government's Actions in Waging War and Torture
Thank you again for the Herculean effort you put forth to keep readers informed. I am submitting the following essay for inclusion in a future compilation, if you want to post it. (I realize it is rather long. I am posting it at my blog, which you can refer people to instead: akad.tumblr.com.
I have been thinking a lot about how responsible U.S. citizens are for the conduct of the U.S. in the world today, specifically for the wars being waged in Iraq and Afghanistan and the use of torture of prisoners held in prisons and detention centers in over a hundred countries. I am a U.S. citizen who has left my country because I do not support what the government is doing, nor what the country has become, which is certainly no longer any form of democracy of the people, for the people, and by the people, if it ever was. Should Americans be held accountable for the actions of a government that fights wars when they want peace? Especially when they feel powerless to stop the government?
Can a people be held responsible when they have continually been lied to by the media and politicians? Can a people be held responsible for corruption of all the institutions in their country? Can a people be held responsible when there has been an extensive program of mind control and manipulation of the truth by all the mass media?
If people are guilty of apathy, passivity, complacency, and fear of losing what they have worked to attain as they may lose their job and jeopardize their income if they speak out or show anger or seem too political, it doesn't seem so terrible on the face of it. If people decide politics is too dirty or distressing for them to get very involved, such naivete may be distressing, but it's not quite the same as actively carrying out harm to other people. If people decide to devote themselves to their family and a small circle of friends rather than being involved politically, is that so reprehensible?
There is great diversity among Americans. The truly ugly Americans who are hateful, ambitious, ruthlessly aggressive, greedy, arrogant and willing to kill others in wars so that they can go on making lots of money and having more than other people in the world have always been a minority, even if they sometimes seem the most vocal and powerful today.
As I have networked over the Internet with people from other countries, I have put together a very different picture of the U.S. than the mythology we are taught about our country. What I have come to realize is that the U.S. has always pursued aggressive wars to open markets in other countries and that the economic system of capitalism is not so much twinned to democracy as it is to militarism. Democracy only works when people work it; there has been far too little involvement of citizens exercising the responsibility of staying informed and voting to make it work. Consequently, the U.S. has not evolved into a country of more freedom, but one of less and less liberty.
Freedom and human rights for everyone are incompatible with basic erroneous principles that most people in the U.S. have agreed to: 1) that profit is the bottomline, never the commonweal (and certainly not protection of the environment, especially if you can move your production to developing countries and pollute them instead of your own), 2) that you can pretty much do whatever you want to if you have enough money (and damned little if you don't), and 3) that the violent use of force as a country (the military option) is justifiable if it succeeds in meeting your goals. As long as most people subscribe to these ideas, nothing will improve, because these are the working principles that govern the present conduct of the U.S. While ruthless aggression and the use of violence is seen as inevitable and normal, the country follows a downward spiral away from the higher good of all.
There is little all-inclusive community left anywhere in the U.S. Our car culture and computers have contributed to destroying in large degree our sense of connectivity with the larger community. The newspaper wars of the past thirty years have left all major cities with only one big daily newspaper --always the largely conservative voice of the wealthy-- which has also led to the deterioration of a sense of community that includes everyone. On the Internet, people usually only dialogue with other like-minded people. Differences do not usually get resolved, not even through the courts, only managed. The net result has been a loss of community and a dangerous disconnection with other people.
The mass media disinforms people and without knowing the truth, they collectively grow detached from reality. Last year I engaged in a daily dialogue with my students in Europe about the war in Iraq. When I returned to the U.S. last summer, almost nobody was discussing it and I could not get anyone to sustain a conversation about it for more than a minute or two. The mass insanity of people carrying on their lives as though no war was being fought was truly mind boggling.
I could go on and on with how I have considered many aspects of this issue of culpability. I now live in China, which is breaking free of the fetters of a repressive era, opening to the world in a process that is exciting to witness. From this vantage point, the U.S. seems to be mired in as repressive a totalitarianism as the Chinese suffered in the cultural revolution. Were the Chinese people responsible for what their government did to them? Are any people truly responsible for conditions when they have succumbed to fear? Are the American people responsible for what their government is doing, not only to them, but to people in other countries and all over the world?
After going round and round on this, what I have concluded is that if the American people are not responsible for what their government or military does, then who is? Who is better situated to hold it accountable for its actions? Therefore, I challenge each and every person in the U.S. to examine their hearts and souls to ask themselves if they are passively contributing to the murder and torture of people in other countries by the military and intelligence agencies of their country, and if there is truly any justification for the wars being fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, and possibly coming up, a war in Iran.
I challenge each and every person reading this to consider what you can do differently if you do not want to be complicit in the pursuit of empire of the U.S. today. Do you really want to cooperate with the megalomania of leaders of this country in attempting to force U.S. rule over the entire world? Is there any way you might express your voice and build community that can bring about effective change?
We give thanks and honor to our mother, the Earth, whose beauty and love glorifies our lives as the sun rises and sets and sparkles on the sea, as the wind blows in the trees and carries the seeds, as our existence depends on the bees.
Red Cross Monitors Barred From Guantanamo http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/111607K.shtml

ELABORATE, POIGNANT ARGUMENTS AGAINST THE FOLLY OF WAR AND THE COMPLICIT SILENCE OF CHURCH AUTHORITIES ABOUT IT.

WAR AND THE CONFESSING CHRISTIAN
My concern lies with war and the terrible toll it takes on human lives. Most people want peace and yet hundreds of billions of dollars a year are spent on weapons worldwide - money that could be used to help people instead of money used to kill and injure them. When a cousin of mine was in Japan he was repeatedly asked, "What are you doing for peace?" Some years ago, I met a former World War II Canadian Army warrant officer. With tears in his eyes, he wondered out loud as to how many German children he had orphaned. He had rigged up a heavy gun on his army carrier and had snuffed out as many German men's lives as possible. "I was a very good shot," he chokingly told me. Are we, the followers of Jesus Christ, blessed because we are peacemakers in this war-torn world? (See Matt. 5:9) Are we the salt and light that we should be or are we as Christ's Church just as guilty or even more guilty than others in instigating and maintaining the wars on the face of this earth?
According to a paper in my possession (see also Charles Colson's book, Kingdoms in Conflict) some sixty years ago, at Barmen-Wuppertal, in Germany, a small group of Christians, in a confessional statement, set themselves against the war, racial, and other policies of Adolph Hitler. They were told in no uncertain terms that they were wrong. Both fellow citizens and fellow Christians assured the Barmen believers that Hitler was a real saviour, not the enemy of God but God's emissary. Had the Church in Germany as a whole adopted the Barmen confession the world could have been spared untold suffering. Hitler would hardly have risked war if he had known that the Church would not back him. Some time ago, on 100 Huntley Street, a Christian TV program, a "Christian" Jew spoke. His father had been taken away and killed by three Germans; one a Catholic, one a Lutheran, and one a Pentecostal. (The speaker had the grace to call them backslidden.) But is this the way for the Christian? Do we who are the followers of the Prince of Peace simply commit any and all atrocities that our government wants us to do or do we draw the line somewhere? Many Christians hold to a so-called "Just War" theory but when it comes to actual war, most Christians simply side with their own land. Some believers who have refused to take up arms have been terribly persecuted for it and some have been put to death. Somehow I feel that this is the Jesus' way: die rather than kill. That's what He did. Are we not to be like He was?
What was the position of the early Christians in regard to war? "Robert M. Grant, the distinguished historian and author of Augustine to Constantine: The Thrust of the Christian Movement into the Roman World (Harper & Row, 1970), says: "Early Christian theologians condemned murder and cited war as prime instance. Manuals of church discipline refused to allow for the possibility of military service and insisted that upon conversion a soldier had to leave the army." (Jon Bonk, The World at War The Church at Peace, Kindred Press, Winnipeg, MB., 1988, p.19.)
The Sermon on the Mount (and many other teachings of Jesus) with verses such as, "You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbour and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven:" (Matt. 5:43-45a) had left their mark. Paul had told them, "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:21}.
What do military men themselves say? Well, we know it varies but one, Omar Bradley, a U.S. five-star general, Known as the "GI's general" and field commander of 1.3 million men during the Second World War has said, "As far as I am concerned, war itself is immoral." (Maclean's, April 20,1981) Surely we as Christians should take up a cry such as this!
Farley Mowat, now a naturalist, a writer, and a former Canadian soldier who participated in the carnage of the Second World War, writes as follows in his book AND NO BIRDS SANG: "Let it be said then that I wrote this book in the absolute conviction that there never has been, nor ever can be a "good" or worthwhile war... So awful that through three decades I kept the deeper agonies of it wrapped in the cotton-wool of protective forgetfulness... but could not, because the Old Lie--temporarily discredited by the Vietnam debacle--is once more gaining credence; a whisper which soon may become another strident shout urging us on to mayhem. Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori!* Spawned in Hell long before Homer sanctified it, and goading men to madness and destruction ever since, that Old Lie has to be put down!" (McClelland et al, Toronto, 1979, pages 195-196).
Pierre Berton, a Canadian soldier, an officer, and also a renowned author, describes the battle of Vimy Ridge in gruesome detail in his book, Vimy. In conclusion he asks, "Was it worth it?" The battle had cost thousands of limbs, eyes, and lives on both sides. Even relatives had been pitted against each other in this terrible slaughter and, much after the war, as an old German soldier and the son of a Canadian soldier talk about this they agree that the war had been "a terrible waste of human life brought on by greedy people and tolerated for too long by silent majorities." To the question, "Was it worth it?" the answer is very clear- "No." (McClelland et al, Toronto, 1986, pages 307-308}.
Why is it Bradley, Mowat, and Berton who have to say this, why not the Church per se? Do churches have blinders on their eyes as to the antithesis of war and the Christ of the Gospels? Loving care for those on the "other" side is put on the shelf and war is supported by many of the very people who carry, or at least are to carry, the image of the Prince of Peace. Jesus talks about stones crying out if certain voices would be silenced and it seems to me that this is what is happening in regard to a peace witness. Far too often, the Church refuses to preach peace and others are taking up the cry. A case in point would be modern school textbooks. Often people in the upper echelons of education, nowadays, are trying hard to make the next generation of young people see the folly of war on this rather fragile "spaceship earth." One Junior High book carries the story of the founder of the Red Cross, Henry Dunant. In the course of doing business with an Emperor, Dunant stumbled upon a battlefield littered with bodies and with mortally wounded French and Austrian soldiers. Dunant got the Red Cross movement going but later hated all mankind because of the cruelties he had seen at Solferino. Another school book tells of a Japanese girl who desperately wants to live but cannot because the atom bomb disease (leukemia) took her away. The story ends with a prayer, "This is our cry, this is our prayer; Peace in our world."
The Church should call war what it is: it is horrible; it is brutish; it is fiendish. But no! The Church far too often blesses the tanks, the cannons, the bayonets, and, in some cases, possibly even the hydrogen bombs. What preachers have said in support of their country's military would fill volumes.
I honestly feel that it is wrong to kill my fellow man even when my own country is at war. At such times I appeal to a higher authority, God Himself, and say with Peter and the other apostles, "We must obey God rather than men! "(Acts 5:29).
And please don't get me wrong. I think that soldiers have been brave without end, they have sacrificed as no one should have had to sacrifice, and they have done countless acts of heroism. To be honest, though, we must admit that the "other" side's soldiers did more or less the same. This was brought out very forcefully in a movie I watched on television, "All's Quiet on the Western Front." The sad part is that the braver and the more dedicated a soldier is, the more suffering he would generally inflict on the other side.
Sometimes in my mind's eye I can "see" a bayonet thrust into another man's stomach or I can see a small child lying with legs blown off etc. etc. Years ago, when my father and I operated a pulpwood and logging operation in Northern Manitoba, a neighbour one night shot and killed his son (around twenty years of age). At the request of the R.C.M.P. I went to identify the body. I can still see him lying on that cold floor, dead, his mouth wide open, his arm behind his head-a very unpleasant sight. Countless soldiers have done this to each other and why? They were sent by their governments and often by "Christian" governments on both sides. England and France had a "Hundred Year's War." Even Canada and the United States have been at war. Surely the Church can do better than to simply support each and every conflict governments get themselves into. The CANADIAN WAR AMPS stress the words NEVER AGAIN. They have seen and experienced the horrors of war. One old soldier who was interviewed on their program, on being shown an "enemy" soldier's grave showed no hatred but commented something like, "Just another good soldier." This old soldier well knew that the soldiers on the "other" side weren't all the heinous monsters that war propaganda says they are. They too were the precious sons of their mothers, brothers to doting sisters, with sweethearts and wives at home. They, too, desperately wanted to come home-alive.
We are shocked and outraged when someone is murdered and we absolutely should be, but isn't it somewhat strange how as soon as it's called war many people and even many Christians are ready to do mass "murdering" themselves or at least have others do it. Imagine what happens when huge bombs fall on a heavily populated area (like in London, England or in Dresden, Germany in World War Two). Men, women, and children are burned alive, they are blown to smithereens, they are horribly maimed, unborn babies are aborted, mutilated, torn apart, etc., etc. Many people who ordinarily are dead set against abortion seem to shrug it off as long as it is done under the guise of war. Isn't it time that we confess that we have sinned horribly because of all the warring that we have done and that we allow Christ to give us a heart of love for all people-even for those who happen to live across some political border?
I truly feel that as followers of the Prince of Peace we must work for peace, both spiritual and physical. I read a poster that suggests a modest proposal for peace: LET THE CHRISTIANS OF THE WORLD AGREE THAT THEY WILL NOT KILL EACH OTHER. May I quickly add: LET THE CHRISTIANS OF THE WORLD AGREE THAT THEY WILL NOT KILL THEIR FELLOWMAN.
I am sure that most people would agree with what I've said as long as it is applied to the "other" side. If only the other side would follow the teachings of Jesus then things would be just great, but miracles can start to happen when we go by the old saying, "Charity begins at home." Let's work together to further Christ's kingdom. As Christians, instead of being involved in the horrendous deeds of war, let's be involved in works of mercy and thus be instruments of peace** instead of instruments of war. This is a tall order, and especially so when our own country is at war. With God's help, and our wanting to do so, this does, and will continue to happen. Somehow I think we could turn the world "upside down" if we Christians did this consistently. My prayer is that God will give us the courage, the strength, and the love to do this.
*It is sweet and seemly to die for one's country.
**see prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
"Strike against war, for without you no battles can be fought! Strike against manufacturing shrapnel and gas bombs and all other tools of murder! Strike against preparedness that means death and misery to millions of human beings! Be not dumb, obedient slaves in an army of destruction! Be heroes in an army of construction!"
- Helen Keller
"The loud little handful will shout for war. The pulpit will warily and cautiously protest at first. The great mass of the nation will rub its sleepy eyes, and will try to make out why there should be a war, and they will say earnestly and indignantly: 'It is unjust and dishonorable and there is no need for war.' Then the few will shout even louder. Before long you will see a curious thing: anti-war speakers will be stoned from the platform, and free speech will be strangled by hordes of furious men who still agree with the speakers but dare not admit it... Next, statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception."

Anti-Bush Sign Has Bridge World in an Uproar ( November 14, 2007) http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/14/arts/14brid.html
In the genteel world of bridge, disputes are usually handled quietly and rarely involve issues of national policy. But in a fight reminiscent of the brouhaha over an anti-Bush statement by Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks in 2003, a team of women who represented the United States at the world bridge championships in Shanghai last month is facing sanctions, including a yearlong ban from competition, for a spur-of-the-moment protest. At issue is a crudely lettered sign, scribbled on the back of a menu, that was held up at an awards dinner and read, We did not vote for Bush.By e-mail, angry bridge players have accused the women of treason and sedition. Olympia Port Militarization Resistance - 11/15/2007 http://www.worldcantwait.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4426&Itemid=5
Flash Update on Fight to Shut Down War Shipments The Olympian newspaper reported on November 14 that 50 people were arrested late November 13 as they blockaded military shipments at the Port of Olympia in Washington State. Riot equipped cops, wielding riot sticks, shooting pepper spray bullets, pepper spray, and, according to some accounts, two concussion grenades, moved to clear a road of 30 women who were courageously and peacefully sitting in the street to block the arms shipments. After attacking the women who were sitting in, the riot cops moved against the demonstration of about 200 people that was behind the women in the street. Protestors remained in the street until police had finally cleared the way for their cargos of death, at about 1 in the morning. Olympia Port Militarization Resistance (OlyPMR), which called for these actions, is calling on people to continue the protests, Saturday, November 17, at 1:00pm in Olympia, Washington. CLIP
Chicago Sit In Against the War - 11/05/2007 http://www.worldcantwait.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4410&Itemid=5
Over 70 students participated in a sit-in against the Iraq War on All Saints Day, Thursday, November 1st. It began third hour when dozens of students gathered quietly in the lunchroom at Morton West High School and refused to leave. The administrators and police became involved immediately and locked down the school for a half hour after class ended. Students report that they were promised that there would be no charges besides cutting classes if they took their protest outside so as not to disturb the school day. The students complied, and were led to a corner outside the cafeteria where they sang songs and held signs while classes resumed.Despite a police line set up between the protesters and the student body, many other students joined the demonstration. Organizers say they chose November first because it is the Christian holy day called the feast of All Saints and a national day of peace. They wrote a letter and delivered it to Superintendent, Dr. Ben Nowakowski who was present at the time, stating the reason for their protest CLIP
I Will Not Be Silent; In Solidarity with the People of the Middle East - 11/08/2007 http://www.worldcantwait.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4418&Itemid=69
[Speech delivered to the men, women and children of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast Region on October 27, 2007 in Washington Square Park.]I am standing here today on behalf of the men, women and children of the Middle East, who have fallen victim to this Administration and its complete lack of compassion and total disregard for both U.S. and International laws of war. I stand with them so that the entire world can take notice, and so that they will know that they are not forgotten. We in New Orleans, and all across the Gulf Coast region, are aware of just what this Administration is capable of doing. (...) So I am standing here today on behalf of the 2.5 million Iraqi refugees that have fled to neighboring countries; And the nearly 2 million that have been displaced within Iraq. I am here today to give a voice to the over 1 million Iraqis that have died while under U.S. occupation - and to the widows, widowers and orphans that they have left behind to continue suffering under a brutal occupation - with no work and no ability to provide for their families they too will be added to the death toll if we do not do something soon. I speak for them because no one else will. This Administration has run a brutal propaganda campaign to try and make you believe that every Arab and Muslim has the face of Saddam Hussein and that everyone of them had a hand in the attacks of September 11th. It simply isn't true. CLIP
Only a Mass Movement Can Halt These Endless Wars By Kenneth J. Theisen (10-16-07) http://www.worldcantwait.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4394&Itemid=223
Many people think the Bush regime is politically weakened and will no longer be able to achieve its political agenda, particularly in regard to the Iraq war. Millions also have the illusion that after the 2008 elections that the U.S. military will finally withdraw from that beleaguered country. But the Bush regime is currently expanding the size of the U.S. military, and the leading Democratic presidential contenders are not likely to remove the U.S. military presence in Iraq if they are elected. On September 27, 2007, Defense Secretary Robert Gates stated he is likely to approve an army proposal to expand the size of the army. At a Department of Defense press conference, Gates said, Im probably going to recommend they go ahead and give it a try. Im inclined to approve it. (...) We must stop the madness of the Bush regime. But we cannot rely on the Democrats to do so. They have shown us repeatedly that they support the Bush wars by authorizing hundreds of billions of dollars to finance them. Only a mass movement can halt these endless wars that were initiated by the Bush regime and its enablers, the Democrats in congress. We cant wait until 2008, we must declare it now!

Blessings, Jean. Thank you for being and doing this awesome task of getting the news out there where we can read and make decisions... For it is through individual choices that the future is created. It is suggested that time only exists in the past...the future is available for what ever we want...however, if the majority of people have their heads in the sand then the prevailing insanity will be what we all get.
This article is beyond a doubt worthy of our individual consideration. Even if it has already been read once... read it again. If you have been awake, you will notice that everything in this article is true. Therefore, we must wake up more people to the awareness of what is going on. We must send this to everyone...
There are some more radical (?) thoughts that it is already too late, others are looking to see if there is a "state of emergency" this coming spring that will allow the fulfillment of this insanity.
Carlos Castenada said that the ultimate test of a person of power was to have the opportunity to confront a really good petty tyrant....like the conquistadors who had swords and guns...the Indians of Mexico did not. Carlos suggests that those toltecs (persons of power) managed to slip through the conquistador "road blocks" by becoming Catholic priests. Thereby, becoming what the Spaniards recognized as "their kind" of powerful people. What?- do you think you could actually pull off appearing to be a republican right wing christian fundamentalist? I wonder will they be carrying a "card" as in card carrying?
What do we do... do we flee? Do we think we can hide? Or do we continue to work our process and become so good at moving our personal subconscious programs/tapes that we are invisible in plain sight... How do a people get ready for some one in any way similar to the major fascists history has shown us? And if we are good quiet children will we be allowed to "live" in their society? Yikes!
What will be the criteria for who is rounded up? What race or ethnic group or how much education determines status? We know people who have already decided to leave... question is where to go? The Jews of Europe had plenty of opportunity to escape... they did not really believe it was happening until it was too late.
This is a very well written article. Naomi Wolfe has done her research and has some remarkable Angels with her... protecting her (so far) and letting her work get out. Notice this was published about America in a British newspaper.
It is worth reading ...not to create a bummer, but to be awake, aware and the opportunity to be more conscious.... Process your stuff !!! Holy Yikes! And if you don't know how.. contact us...

By David Swanson
29 October 2007
Salt Lake City, Utah -
Today, as we come together once again in this great city, we raise our voices in unison to say to President Bush, to Vice President Cheney, to other members of the Bush Administration (past and present), to a majority of Congress, including Utah's entire congressional delegation, and to much of the mainstream media: "You have failed us miserably and we won't take it any more."
"While we had every reason to expect far more of you, you have been pompous, greedy, cruel, and incompetent as you have led this great nation to a moral, military, and national security abyss."
"You have breached trust with the American people in the most egregious ways. You have utterly failed in the performance of your jobs. You have undermined our Constitution, permitted the violation of the most fundamental treaty obligations, and betrayed the rule of law."
"You have engaged in, or permitted, heinous human rights abuses of the sort never before countenanced in our nation's history as a matter of official policy. You have sent American men and women to kill and be killed on the basis of lies, on the basis of shifting justifications, without competent leadership, and without even a coherent plan for this monumental blunder."
"We are here to tell you: We won't take it any more!"
"You have acted in direct contravention of values that we, as Americans who love our country, hold dear. You have deceived us in the most cynical, outrageous ways. You have undermined, or allowed the undermining of, our constitutional system of checks and balances among the three presumed co-equal branches of government. You have helped lead our nation to the brink of fascism, of a dictatorship contemptuous of our nation's treaty obligations, federal statutory law, our Constitution, and the rule of law."
"Because of you, and because of your jingoistic false 'patriotism,' our world is far more dangerous, our nation is far more despised, and the threat of terrorism is far greater than ever before.
It has been absolutely astounding how you have committed the most horrendous acts, causing such needless tragedy in the lives of millions of people, yet you wear your so-called religion on your sleeves, asserting your God-is-on-my-side nonsense - when what you have done flies in the face of any religious or humanitarian tradition. Your hypocrisy is mind-boggling - and disgraceful. What part of "Thou shalt not kill" do you not understand? What part of the "Golden rule" do you not understand? What part of "be honest," "be responsible," and "be accountable" don't you understand? What part of "Blessed are the peacekeepers" do you not understand?
Because of you, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed, many thousands of people have suffered horrendous lifetime injuries, and millions have been run off from their homes. For the sake of our nation, for the sake of our children, and for the sake of our brothers and sisters around the world, we are morally compelled to say, as loudly as we can, 'We won't take it any more!' "
"As United States agents kidnap, disappear, and torture human beings around the world, you justify, you deceive, and you cover up. We find what you have done to men, women and children, and to the good name and reputation of the United States, so appalling, so unconscionable, and so outrageous as to compel us to call upon you to step aside and allow other men and women who are competent, true to our nation's values, and with high moral principles to stand in your places - for the good of our nation, for the good of our children, and for the good of our world."
In the case of the President and Vice President, this means impeachment and removal from office, without any further delay from a complacent, complicit Congress, the Democratic majority of which cares more about political gain in 2008 than it does about the vindication of our Constitution, the rule of law, and democratic accountability.
It means the election of people as President and Vice President who, unlike most of the presidential candidates from both major parties, have not aided and abetted in the perpetration of the illegal, tragic, devastating invasion and occupation of Iraq. And it means the election of people as President and Vice President who will commit to return our nation to the moral and strategic imperative of refraining from torturing human beings.
In the case of the majority of Congress, it means electing people who are diligent enough to learn the facts, including reading available National Intelligence Estimates, before voting to go to war. It means electing to Congress men and women who will jealously guard Congress's sole prerogative to declare war. It means electing to Congress men and women who will not submit like vapid lap dogs to presidential requests for blank checks to engage in so-called preemptive wars, for legislation permitting warrantless wiretapping of communications involving US citizens, and for dangerous, irresponsible, saber-rattling legislation like the recent Kyl-Lieberman amendment.
We must avoid the trap of focusing the blame solely upon President Bush and Vice-President Cheney. This is not just about a few people who have wronged our country - and the world. They were enabled by members of both parties in Congress, they were enabled by the pathetic mainstream news media, and, ultimately, they have been enabled by the American people - 40% of whom are so ill-informed they still think Iraq was behind the 9/11 attacks - a people who know and care more about baseball statistics and which drunken starlets are wearing underwear than they know and care about the atrocities being committed every single day in our name by a government for which we need to take responsibility.
As loyal Americans, without regard to political partisanship - as veterans, as teachers, as religious leaders, as working men and women, as students, as professionals, as businesspeople, as public servants, as retirees, as people of all ages, races, ethnic origins, sexual orientations, and faiths - we are here to say to the Bush administration, to the majority of Congress, and to the mainstream media: "You have violated your solemn responsibilities. You have undermined our democracy, spat upon our Constitution, and engaged in outrageous, despicable acts. You have brought our nation to a point of immorality, inhumanity, and illegality of immense, tragic, unprecedented proportions."
"But we will live up to our responsibilities as citizens, as brothers and sisters of those who have suffered as a result of the imperial bullying of the United States government, and as moral actors who must take a stand: And we will, and must, mean it when we say 'We won't take it any more.'"
If we want principled, courageous elected officials, we need to be principled, courageous, and tenacious ourselves. History has demonstrated that our elected officials are not the leaders - the leadership has to come from us. If we don't insist, if we don't persist, then we are not living up to our responsibilities as citizens in a democracy - and our responsibilities as moral human beings. If we remain silent, we signal to Congress and the Bush administration - and to candidates running for office - and to the world - that we support the status quo.
Silence is complicity. Only by standing up for what's right and never letting down can we say we are doing our part.
Our government, on the basis of a campaign we now know was entirely fraudulent, attacked and militarily occupied a nation that posed no danger to the United States. Our government, acting in our name, has caused immense, unjustified death and destruction.
It all started five years ago, yet where have we, the American people, been? At this point, we are responsible. We get together once in a while at demonstrations and complain about Bush and Cheney, about Congress, and about the pathetic news media. We point fingers and yell a lot. Then most people politely go away until another demonstration a few months later.
How many people can honestly say they have spent as much time learning about and opposing the outrages of the Bush administration as they have spent watching sports or mindless television programs during the past five years? Escapist, time-sapping sports and insipid entertainment have indeed become the opiate of the masses.
Why is this country so sound asleep? Why do we abide what is happening to our nation, to our Constitution, to the cause of peace and international law and order? Why are we not doing all in our power to put an end to this madness?
We should be in the streets regularly and students should be raising hell on our campuses. We should be making it clear in every way possible that apologies or convoluted, disingenuous explanations just don't cut it when presidential candidates and so many others voted to authorize George Bush and his neo-con buddies to send American men and women to attack and occupy Iraq.
Let's awaken, and wake up the country by committing here and now to do all each of us can to take our nation back. Let them hear us across the country, as we ask others to join us: "We won't take it any more!"
I implore you: Draw a line. Figure out exactly where your own moral breaking point is. How much will you put up with before you say "No more" and mean it?
I have drawn my line as a matter of simple personal morality: I cannot, and will not, support any candidate who has voted to fund the atrocities in Iraq. I cannot, and will not, support any candidate who will not commit to remove all US troops, as soon as possible, from Iraq. I cannot, and will not, support any candidate who has supported legislation that takes us one step closer to attacking Iran. I cannot, and will not, support any candidate who has not fought to stop the kidnapping, disappearances, and torture being carried on in our name.
If we expect our nation's elected officials to take us seriously, let us send a powerful message they cannot misunderstand. Let them know we really do have our moral breaking point. Let them know we have drawn a bright line. Let them know they cannot take our support for granted - that, regardless of their party and regardless of other political considerations, they will not have our support if they cannot provide, and have not provided, principled leadership.
The people of this nation may have been far too quiet for five years, but let us pledge that we won't let it go on one more day - that we will do all we can to put an end to the illegalities, the moral degradation, and the disintegration of our nation's reputation in the world.
Let us be unified in drawing the line - in declaring that we do have a moral breaking point. Let us insist, together, in supporting our troops and in gratitude for the freedoms for which our veterans gave so much, that we bring our troops home from Iraq, that we return our government to a constitutional democracy, and that we commit to honoring the fundamental principles of human rights.
In defense of our country, in defense of our Constitution, in defense of our shared values as Americans - and as moral human beings - we declare today that we will fight in every way possible to stop the insanity, stop the continued military occupation of Iraq, and stop the moral depravity reflected by the kidnapping, disappearing, and torture of people around the world.

Subject: International Prayer/Meditation to Support Dennis Kucinich
Hello Friends of the Dennis Kucinich 2008 Presidential Campaign!
Now that Dennis has won a stunning and empowering 1st-place victory in the Democracy for America online poll of 154,391 Democrat activists, it's time to increase the momentum of his campaign.
(mouse over the map to see how he won 41 out of 50 states!)
So, what is a next step we can take to help?
10 Minutes. Every Sunday. Meditate/Pray for The Kucinich Campaign.
You are invited to join us every Sunday for 10 minutes, wherever you are and whenever you can find a peaceful time during your day to pray, meditate, etc. for Dennis, Elizabeth, the staff, and all the campaign to get all the resources they need to win the Democrat nomination and then to win the White House in 2008.
Everyone is needed. Many of us believe in the power of prayer, meditation, ritual, affirmation, visualization, and so on. Why not use our united group faith and energies to help this campaign?
It's easy, it's fun, it works! It will build a wonderful "pool" of spiritual energy to sustain this campaign as we continue this Sunday after Sunday.
I will send you friendly email reminders every week for this group event.
Please spread word of this to those within and without the campaign whom you feel would agree with it and want to participate. Non-USA citizens are most welcome! The entire world has a stake in who the U.S. elects as president in 2008, so now every Sunday they can assist us in making sure it's Dennis.
To let me know you are participating every Sunday and to get on the reminder email list, contact me at:
At the end of this email, I have provided a suggested helpful guided meditation/prayer/visualization that you may use if you so choose.
But, if you use your own, please at least include the basic requests (5.a thru 5.d) listed in the format I provided. We can use these as a 'core'.
As the weeks roll by, if you have interesting feedback or results from this, let me know so I can share it with the group. If you have further questions, please contact me.
So....are you in???
Let's get to work!
In the Spirit of Peace,
Friends of Kucinich International

2. VISUALIZE as best you can the other group members sitting with you in a circle and connected heart-to-heart, Spirit-to-Spirit.
3. VISUALIZE Dennis, Elizabeth, his staff, and the entire campaign in the MIDDLE of our circle. Silently ask permission of them to accept this activity.
4. FEEL Love and Light and spiritual Power circulating through all meditating members, flowing from the circumference of the circle to the center and back and out to the Universe and back.
5. REQUEST THE AID of the Great Spirit (or whatever term you use) to:
a. PROTECT Dennis, Elizabeth, his staff, and the entire campaign from all harm. b. OPEN DOORS of opportunity so that the campaign's goals can be realized. c. 6. VISUALIZE an immediate and overwhelming positive response to your request for aid.
7. GIVE THANKS.
This is the 'core' of the meditation/prayer. You can engage in it more than 10 minutes; you can add other prayers, mantras, thoughts, images, etc. as you wish. Choose any 10 minutes on Sunday when you can have privacy and peace.
This format should be short and simple enough so that there is no strain.
We can think of this as being...FUN and very empowering!

Kucinich versus Goliath
I am sending you a letter I wrote about Kucinich because I think he is making a stand that cannot be ignored.
He may, with our loyalty and our sense of what truth can accomplish, actually prevail.
I have become acutely aware of how progressive media pundits Jon Stewart, Stephanie Miller, Bill Maher, Larry King refer to Dennis as a gnome, an elf, a good little guy and continue to be-little him when they all know he is the only candidate that represents everyone of them.
Ed Schultz said Kucinich knew he wasn't going to get the nomination...Kucinich said the opposite to me. He is serious and knows he is the very best one for the job. And if media folks would stop dismissing him, he could rise in stature in every way.
They never said Pierrot was too small for the job...all of a sudden this is the primary reason for dismissing the truth. The media is interested in someone who looks good...Schwartzeneger is better looking? By whose standards?
Progressive media won't give support to Kucinich because he's not one of the Big Boys...Embarrassed to show respect for him, because the media has made fun of him and they don't want to risk being made fun of. How infantile this behavior is, it's so "playground."
When you don't stand up for the guy who's being ridiculed by bullies because the bullies could pick on you...and you're afraid you'll be embarrassed and might even lose your position in the clique while some innocent and brilliant nerd gets ignored or pounded on daily...then you're not as courageous as you could be.
Instead of standing up for the little guy who is actually smarter than all the other guys, you join the Big Boys and actually tacitly help them beat the little guy to a pulp...while one of their Big Boys or Big Girls gets the biggest respect for being the biggest bully who consequently continues to bully us all.
You've seen what the Big Boys do and still, the media is not courageous enough to expose them thoroughly for their war crimes, their crimes against our civil liberties i.e. wire tapping and compete loss of habeas corpus, and this is just the beginning of what the bullies you tacitly support are about to do.
Hillary won't stop the war, because she's a woman and has to prove how strong, decisive, and masculine she really is. Same for Obama, he'll have to keep killing people so the people won't kill him (but they probably will anyway). And the others are all inclined to go along with the Kerry & Mc Cain decisions to keep on fighting because even though they know better, they don't want to look weak to the rest of the bullies and Big Boys waiting to bloody their noses.
Who is going to stand up to the Goliath the media Big Boys have created?
Obviously, it's Kucinich who will end the war, bring the troops home, prevent a war in Iran, stop torture, bring health care to all citizens, and stand up for the environment and our rights and reinstate the Constitution before it's too late.
Be courageous, face the cruel heartless, murderous, lying giants with Kucinich.
Kucinich protests Army training school http://snipurl.com/1tu97
Democratic presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich said Sunday the thinking that went into producing an Army school blamed for human rights abuses in Latin America was the same that led the U.S. to war in Iraq and could cause it to raid Iran.
Twenty Thousand Protest at Fort Benning http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/111907C.shtml
Bill Quigley, writing for Truthout, reports: "In what has become the nation's largest annual gathering for peace and human rights, over twenty thousand people protested outside the gates of Fort Benning, GA, on November 18, 2007. Eleven people were arrested on federal criminal charges and face up to six months in prison."
Kucinich weekly campaign update 11-19-07 (8 min 51 sec) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yf7e_aS900
This week's report highlights last Thursday's CNN Presidential debate, the "real" problem behind the recall of Chinese-made toys, an encouraging new poll in NH, and other campaign news.
Dear Ones how well you are doing in coping with the changes that are taking place. Although the outcome is not clear to you there is a belief that all will be concluded in victory over the dark forces. That is something to contemplate in view of the continuing threats from them, and comforting to know that there is a limit as to how far they can go. There is if needed an ultimate date by which the changes must have commenced, so although you do not know precisely when it is, you can nevertheless be assured that the New Year promises some remarkable developments.
It is clear that matters cannot remain as they are, and before long there has to be a victor between the Light and dark. Already there is so much pressure upon the dark that they are unable to move further forward. This causes them to fly into all directions at once, seeking an outlet for their anger over their failure to achieve their goals. We see they are weakening on the political front, and if they lose further support they cannot carry their plans further forward. It is apparent to so many people that they have the power to make a substantial difference, and at last people power is seen to be working. The right people are emerging as the front-runners in your polls, and this a credit to all concerned in promoting their policies.
Clearly people are now being asked some serious questions, and it is a matter of whether you want more of the same soul destroying policies, that have reduced America to a shadow of its earlier greatness, or want a restoration of the Constitution and all that implies. We are greatly impressed by the sudden emergence of many people who are standing up for the truth and in their own Light. It makes us realize that our faith in you has not been misplaced, and we anticipated that you were not prepared to lay down and allow yourselves to be trampled upon. Your awakening has touched upon the realization you hold the power because you embrace the Light, and you make it work for you.
We tell you time and time again how powerful you are, and now you are beginning to see the absolute proof before you. Whatever happens your power of thought cannot be taken from you, and as long as you continue to apply it for the good of all it will bring results. There is of course unending help from us and the many Higher Beings that follow your actions. Light attracts Light and we can register the changes that are occurring, and can confirm that they are increasing very rapidly. Millions of small soul lights have started to come together, and now beacons of Light are present all over the Earth. These in turn grow even faster and they draw more and more people to them.
There is no limit to how far you can go when working with the Light; as when all else has disappeared it is all that remains. Many ask what can I do to help, and we would say simply recognize your ability to bring the Light to Earth. Find those quiet moments of mind to meditate and consciously seek the Light. Mentally see it being drawn to Earth and entering the Light grids, and ask that it be used for the good of all. It will be attracted to those areas that are in need such as the Middle East, and bring a much needed release from the influences of the dark.
Fear and depression cause people to act differently from normal, and are fueling the never-ending supply of volunteers as suicide bombers. When your future looks bleak and hopeless, it is easier to sacrifice your life for what you see as a worthy cause. We do not condone this type of warfare, but understand the conditions that lead to it taking place. The apathy on both sides means that the Middle East war is heading for a meltdown, and cannot be sustained. Most far reaching is the lack of morale amongst the troops who realize that they cannot win this war. Mutiny is not a word that is mentioned, but even those in high places are seeking ways to end it.
Do not give one iota of your energy in falling for the fear raising tactics of the dark. Everything they do is overplayed and calculated to keep you subservient to their will. Devote your attention to the actions of those who present themselves as your prospective representatives, who can be recognized as being inspired by the Light. In this respect your future lies in your own hands, although be aware that we support all of those who are honest, truthful and work from the heart. For those of you who sense a calling to help the Light, bide your time as many will be called into action after the major changes.
Meantime we closely monitor all events occurring on Earth, and consequently can reasonably predict future events. They are reaching a crescendo, and it will be an extremely interesting time to see exactly how the dark will fall. It will eventually be far reaching, and those who have broken their oaths to stand by the people will find themselves removed. Such appointments cannot be taken lightly, and it is paramount that those who represent you are working for the Light and do not ignore their responsibilities. Decadence is a disease that spreads like wildfire, and only the strong and dedicated can resist it.
Can you imagine the remorse that people will feel when they realize that they have let you down, and not least of all themselves. The shame of having the truth of your misdeeds paraded before others is soul destroying. However, all have the opportunity to change the course of their lives and can still contribute to the remainder of this cycle. The Love and forgiveness that will be expressed will motivate some people to start anew, and they can make amends in this way. We do not condemn those who have gone astray, and nothing is more heartening than a soul who has recognized their Light within.
I am Ag-agria of the Galactic Federation, and ask that you see all other souls as having the same potential as you to come into the Light. Do not be too critical of those who have gone astray, as very few of you have stood entirely within the Light through your many lifetimes. The forces of Light and dark have been necessary to allow the cycle of duality, and now it is time for completion and to uplift you fully into the Light. For all that happens there is a great energy of love carrying you ever onwards, and it has always been with you, and will be so for all eternity.
Thank you Ag-agria.

Subject: Brasscheck TV: The 9/11 President
What kind of mayor could watch over 3,000 of his citizens be killed in cold blood and not show even the slightest curiosity about the details of what happened?
Rudolph Giuliani, portrayed by the cabal media as the likely next president of the United States.
1. Election fraud which the Republicans have mastered
2. Fox News
In order to understand the mindset of the average American, you have to understand Fox News.
Fox News is the most popular TV news service in America and TV is overwhelmingly the primary source of information for most Americans.
Fox News is the creation of Roger Ailes, who continues to operate it today.
Roger Ailes was a campaign strategist for Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George Bush Sr. He's obviously partial to George Bush Jr. too. He's also been a close personal friend of Rudolph Giuliani for twenty years.
American will not actually elect Rudolph Giuliani, just as they did not elect George Bush in 2000 or 2004.
But Fox News will do the job for Giuliani it did for Bush.
1. Fox will present Giuliani as a viable candidate when in fact he's nothing more than a bad joke.
2. Fox will censor all news about Giuliani's corruption and incompetence
3. When Giuliani "wins," Fox will be the first news service to cheer and declare the fraudulent results legitimate.
In short, they're going to do it again unless stopped.

Department of Justice Trying to Force New York to Vote on Theft-Enabling Machines for 2008 Election
by Andi Novick - November 8, 2007
The below is from a press release re the DOJ lawsuit and why the only solution is hand counted paper ballots.
In USA v. New York State Board of Elections, et al. (US District Court, Northern District of NY, Civil Action No. 06-CV-0263), the politicized Department of Justice, which has done everything in its power to undermine its mission to defend the right to vote, argued in motion papers filed on Election Day, that even though no electronic voting systems exist that meet NY's voting technology standards (and, indeed, none meet federal standards either), NY must use this flawed and repeatedly proven failed technology. In essence the federal government's position is this: it doesn't matter that the voting machines being sold by irresponsible private vendors have been proven to be hackable in less than a minute, they still comply with the Help America Vote Act so NY should buy them in time for the 2008 elections.
California Secretary of State, Debra Bowen, recently conducted the largest independent top-to-bottom-review of these voting machines and the results were devastating, exposing both Paper Ballot Optical Scan and touch-screen DRE systems inadequacy to ensure accuracy and integrity of election results. Both systems were shown to be easily hacked without detection. http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_vsr.htm
The California report confirms what at least two dozen Prior studies from prestigious universities, the Government Accountability Office, the Brennan Center and the federal governments own technical advisors, the National Institute of Standards and Technology have concluded: the machines Americans are voting on are shockingly insecure and seriously vulnerable to attacks that could change the outcome of elections. While tampering has always been a risk to every type of voting system, the threat created by computerized systems is exponentially increased:
Potentially, a single programmer could rig a major election The National Institute of Standards and Technology, December 2006
The absurdity of the federal government's position goes even further. The DOJ's memo of law worries that someone might get away with something: "To view this scenario otherwise would allow a state to ignore with impunity HAVA's minimal federal voting systems requirements for however long it pleases." Hmm. Is this anything comparable to the telephone companies violating the US Constitution, the Bill of Rights and various state and local laws by spying on US citizens for the federal government, with impunity?
If the federal government is magnanimous enough to grant immunity to such gross violations of liberty in the Land of the Free, certainly it can allow a State to demand securable voting, despite HAVA's arbitrary deployment deadline.
"Why are we being forced to buy machines that have been found incapable of accurately providing a reliable vote tally, but have been found to be readily capable of rigging the elections in a way that is not detectable by the people?" asked Andrea Novick, a New York based attorney, Co-Coordinator of Education with Election Defense Alliance and Co-Founder of Northeast Citizens for Responsible Media. She continued, "The California Secretary of State decertified these very machines because they were unable to provide the means of conducting a secure, reliable election. And yet the state of New York is only considering the purchase of these rejected machines."
Now the DOJ is trying to force NY to purchase these defective machines without even permitting NY to perform testing certification of systems which are known to fail. Novick said, "It's like forcing Americans to buy Ford Pintos even after they were revealed to blow up upon impact in accidents. Why would we knowingly purchase dangerous products. The computerized voting systems on the market are so dangerous they enable theft on a massive scale never before possible. These machines should have been recalled, but instead the DOJ and NYS want us to use tax payers' dollars to buy these flawed systems".
A recent Zogby poll documented a record breaking polling statistic: 92% of Americans insist on the right to watch their votes being counted. 80% strongly object to the use of secret computer software to tabulate votes without citizen access to that software. And yet, all computerized voting systems on the market count the votes in secret! Under NY's laws, the partisan voting vendor and a few select members of the government would see the source coding which provides some inkling into how the computers were programmed to process and count the votes, but the citizens are never permitted to know how their votes are counted. The DOJ objects to even a few members of state government knowing how the machines are programmed to count the votes, while defending Microsoft's right to keep vote counting secreted from the people over the people's right to see and know that their votes are being accurately counted.
The voting vendors who sell these flawed systems which fail to produce fair, honest elections, conceal the myriad of problems their systems experience. In addition to covering up or failing to tell other states about known software problems that caused the mis-tabulation of votes or other computer problems in another state, the vendors have engaged in a wide range of deceptive practices including documented cases of lying to election officials, secret installation of unapproved software and a long list of ethical violations. Many of these violations are documented at http://www.votersunite.org
Director Dr. Steven M. Greer reports that government insiders have revealed the existence of a shadowy, highly classified program related to UFOs.
The reasons for the secrecy are simple: The inertia of highly classified programs, embarrassment over past illegal actions taken to enforce secrecy, and the fact that the energy and propulsion systems behind the mysterious UFO objects have been studied and fully understood. This disclosure would spell the end for oil, gas, coal and other conventional forms of power - and with that, the end of the current oil-based geopolitical order and economy. The truth is our tax dollars have been used to investigate this matter for decades and it is time for a dividend on that investment. The full disclosure of the facts will enable humanity to attain a sustainable civilization without global warming or the need for oil.
Recent calls for a US government investigation into UFOs have not taken into account the fact that such investigations are on-going, highly compartmented and top-secret.
Dr. Greer states: "As early as 1993, when I personally briefed CIA Director James Woolsey on the UFO matter, we knew of on-going, secret projects to which President Clinton and Mr. Woolsey were denied access. The senior counsel for the Senate Appropriations Committee, then headed by Senator Byrd (D-WV) told me directly that upwards of $100 billion per year was going into so-called black projects, including UFO programs, but that with a top-secret clearance and a subpoena power, he could not penetrate the veil of secrecy."
Subsequently, working with philanthropist Laurence Rockefeller, Dr. Greer provided in-depth briefing materials for President Clinton and Hillary Clinton, who reviewed the matter while staying at the Rockefellers JY Ranch. ( Briefing materials are at http://www.disclosureproject.org/access.htm )
Dr. Greer reports that "The Clintons refused further disclosure of the matter. CIA Director Woolsey frankly stated that they could not disclose programs over which they had no control or access. Mr. Woolsey and the Clintons were shaken by the secrecy, and the power behind it."
Since then, The Disclosure Project has uncovered thousands of official US documents and top-secret military and corporate witnesses to programs dealing with UFOs, including project code names and numbers. Such operations are rogue and are beyond the scope of Congressional oversight committees.
Note: The two paragraphs referring to Laurence Rockefeller and to Bill and Hillary Clinton had to be removed from this press release when we sent it out through our press release service - http://prnewswire.com/, because they refused to send out the original press release with those references. It was referred up the chain of command at their organization and censored by them. When you think that we have a free press, think again. This was not even censored by the outlets themselves, but by the entry point to those outlets!

The UFO Disclosure press conference at the prestigious National Press Club was organized and run very well. Only accredited journalists were present, and each official or witness spoke to their personal experience concerning a craft whose origin could not be explained by anomalous weather, local military activity, flares, or commercial flight. Incidents ranged from a 1986 sighting over Anchorage by Japan Air Lines pilots and crew who saw a object with flashing lights that was six times the size of their 747, to a large disc seen by commercial pilots last spring at Chicago OHare that suddenly lifted up into the air above the airport. Panelists included former Belgian Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff Wilfried De Brower, Dr. Jean-Claude Ribes, who served 35 years for the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in France. two Peruvian Air Force commanders, and French astrophysicist Dr. Claude Poher. Former Governor Fife Symington of Arizona spoke last. CLIP

At the National Press Club: Carol Rosin's testimony, 4 months before 9/11/01, about Werner von Braun's warning to her in 1974: There will be an attempt to stage an ET invasion and also to pump up the space weapons program. This was planned to happen after a war on terrorism. Rosin explains what the ETs are offering us. Notice the recent news, on the mainstream media, about UFOs? Beware media spin on ETs as potential threats!!!
COSMIC DECEPTION: LET THE CITIZEN BEWARE http://www.disclosureproject.org/cosmicdeception.htm
Imagine this. It is the summer of 2001, and someone presents you with a script for a movie or book that tells how a diabolical terrorist plot unfolds wherein both 110 story World Trade Center towers and part of the Pentagon are destroyed by commercial jets hijacked and flown into those structures. Of course you would laugh, and if you were a movie mogul or book editor, reject it out of hand as ridiculous and implausible, even for a fictional novel or movie. After all, how could a commercial jet, being tracked on radar after two jets had already hit the World Trade towers, make it through our air defenses, into the most sensitive airspace in the world, and in broad daylight on a crystal clear day, slam into the Pentagon! And this in a country that spends over $1 billion a day to defend itself! Absurd, illogical - nobody would swallow it! Unfortunately, there are some of us who have seen these scripts - and of far worse things to come - and we are not laughing. One of the few silver linings to these recent tragedies is that maybe - just maybe - people will take seriously, however far-fetched it may seem at first, the prospect that a shadowy, para-governmental and transnational entity exists that has kept UFOs secret - and is planning a deception and tragedy that will dwarf the events of 9/11. CLIP
WHEN DISCLOSURE SERVES SECRECY http://www.disclosureproject.org/disclosureserves.htm
Ending the secrecy surrounding the UFO/ET subject is a laudable goal. It is long overdue. It would transform the world in ways both simple and profound. And yet it is fraught with danger. The covert projects which have been running UFO related programs for nearly 60 years are not interested in a disclosure which upsets their apple cart. They want such a disclosure to transform their apple cart into a freight train. And they potentially have the power and connections to do it. There are multiple scenarios attending the disclosure of the UFO subject-and not all of them have the best interests of humanity at heart. Elsewhere, in the new book Extraterrestrial Contact: The Evidence and Implications' I write about the kind of disclosure the world needs. An honest one. An open one. One which replaces secrecy with democracy. A disclosure which is peaceful, scientific and hopeful. But then there is the disclosure the powers that be would like to see: Manipulated. Calculated to consolidate power and engender fear. Configured in such a way that chaos and a deepening need for Big Brother is carefully inculcated into the masses. We have seen the plans and it is not a pretty picture. CLIP
Former pilots and officials call for new U.S. UFO probe (12 Nov 2007) http://africa.reuters.com/world/news/usnN12484197.html
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic U.S. presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich may have been ridiculed for saying he had seen a UFO, but for some former military pilots and other observers, unidentified flying objects are no laughing matter. An international panel of two dozen former pilots and government officials called on the U.S. government on Monday to reopen its generation-old UFO investigation as a matter of safety and security given continuing reports about flying discs, glowing spheres and other strange sightings."Especially after the attacks of 9/11, it is no longer satisfactory to ignore radar returns ... which cannot be associated with performances of existing aircraft and helicopters," they said in a statement released at a news conference. The $459 billion bill, which awaits President Bush's signature, provides $100 million for a new "prompt global strike" program that could deliver a conventional, precision-guided warhead anywhere in the world within two hours. It takes funds away from development of a conventional warhead for the Navy's submarine-launched Trident Intercontinental Ballistic Missile and from an Air Force plan for the Common Aero Vehicle. An artist's rendering of the Falcon vehicle, which is expected to be capable of delivering 12,000 pounds of payload. In January 1979, The New York Times reported that despite repeated, feverish denials, the CIA had indeed investigated the UFO phenomenon. The report is said to have so upset the then CIA director, Stansfield Turner, that he reportedly asked his staff: "Are we in UFOs?" The answer was yes. This year a raft of newly unclassified CIA documents revealed that the remote possibility of alien invasion elicited greater fear than the threat of a Soviet nuclear attack. The subject of UFOs ... not only focused the attention of the US government elite for 50 years, but of some of the greatest scientific and military minds of the era. The CIA documents show that despite decades of repeated public denials, behind the scenes there raged a series of inter-agency feuds that involved the highest levels of the US government. UFO files cover everything from "flying saucers over Belgian Congo uranium mines" to Nazi "flying saucers". A 1953 memo shows that the physicist John Wheeler, while critically involved with Edward Teller in the creation of the hydrogen bomb, was available to the "CIA attack on the flying saucer" problem. A secret 1995 report was titled: CIA's role in the study of UFOs 1947-90: a diehard issue. Written by Gerald Haines, the CIA's National Reconnaissance Office historian, its detailed summary of CIA involvement inadvertently undermined its "UFOs-don't-exist" conclusion. Although the air force was the agency given the task of investigating UFOs from 1948 onwards, the CIA remained deeply involved. Some of their highlights, quoting directly from the documents, include: "[Since] 1947 there have been about 1500 official reports of sightings and [of these] the air force carries 20 per cent as unexplained." Pollution in the seas is now speeding global warming, says a devastating new climate report.
by Geoffrey Lean in Valencia
Humanity is rapidly turning the seas acid through the same pollution that causes global warming, the worlds governments and top scientists agreed yesterday. The process thought to be the most profound change in the chemistry of the oceans for 20 million years is expected both to disrupt the entire web of life of the oceans and to make climate change worse.
The warning is just one of a whole series of alarming conclusions in a new report published by the official Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which last month shared the Nobel Peace Prize with former US vice president Al Gore.
Drawn up by more than 2,500 of the worlds top scientists and their governments, and agreed last week by representatives of all its national governments, the report also predicts that nearly a third of the worlds species could be driven to extinction as the world warms up, and that harvests will be cut dramatically across the world.
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who attended the launch of the report in this ancient Spanish city, told The Independent on Sunday that he found the quickening pace of global warming very frightening.
And, with unusual outspokenness for a UN leader, he said he looked forward to both the United States and China the worlds two biggest polluters playing a more constructive role in vital new negotiations on tackling climate change that open in Indonesia next month.
The new IPCC report, which is designed to give impetus to the negotiations, highlights the little-known acidification of the oceans, first reported in this newspaper more than three years ago. It concludes that emissions of carbon dioxide the main cause of global warming have already increased the acidity of ocean surface water by 30 per cent, and threaten to treble it by the end of the century.
Achim Steiner, the executive director of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), said yesterday: The report has put a spotlight on a threat to the marine environment that the world has hardly yet realized. The threat is immense as it can fundamentally alter the life of the seas, reducing the productivity of the oceans, while reinforcing global warming.
Scientists have found that the seas have already absorbed about half of all the carbon dioxide emitted by humanity since the start of the industrial revolution, a staggering 500 billion tons of it. This has so far helped slow global warming which would have accelerated even faster if all this pollution had stayed in the atmosphere, already causing catastrophe but at an increasingly severe cost.
The gas dissolves in the oceans to make dilute carbonic acid, which is increasingly souring the naturally alkali seawater. This, in turn, mops up calcium carbonate, a substance normally plentiful in the seas, which corals use to build their reefs, and marine creatures use to make the protective shells they need to survive. These include many of the plankton that form the base of the food chain on which all fish and other marine animals depend.
As the waters are growing more acid this process is decreasing, with incalculable consequences for the life of the seas, and for the fisheries on which a billion of the worlds people depend for protein. Every single species that uses calcium in this way, that has so far been studied, has been found to be affected. And the seas are most acid near the surface, where most of their life is concentrated.
A report by the Royal Society, Britains premier scientific body, concludes that, as a result, of the pollution, the worlds oceans are probably now more acidic that they have ever been in hundreds of millennia, and that even if emissions stopped now, the waters would take tens of thousands of years to return to normal.
Professor Ulf Reibesell of the Leibnitz Institute of Marine Sciences in Kiel, Germanys leading expert on the process, concludes in an issue of UNEPs magazine Our Planet, to be published next month, that, if it continues to the levels predicted by yesterdays report for the end of the century, the seas will reach a condition unprecedented in the last 20 million years.
He recalls how something similar happened when a comet hit Mexicos Yucatan peninsula 65 million years ago, blasting massive amounts of calcium sulphate into the atmosphere to form sulphuric acid, which in turn caused the extinction of corals and virtually all shell-building species.
Two million years went by before corals reappeared in the fossil record, he says, adding that it took a further 20 million years before the diversity of species that use calcium returned to its former levels.
Scientists add that, as the seas become more acidic, they will be less able to absorb carbon dioxide, causing more of it to stay in the atmosphere to speed up global warming. Research is already uncovering some signs that the oceans ability to mop up the gas is diminishing. Environmentalists point out that the increasing acidification of the oceans would in itself provide ample reason to curb emissions of carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels and felling forests even if the dwindling band of skeptics were right and the gas was not warming up the planet.
But yesterdays cautiously worded report, which was agreed by the US government, also provides ample evidence that climate change is well under way, and is accelerating. It concludes that the warming is now unequivocal and evident from observations of increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising global average sea level.
It adds: Eleven of the last 12 years rank among the 12 warmest years in the instrumental record of global surface temperature. It goes on: Observational evidence from all continents and most oceans shows that many natural systems are being affected by regional climate changes, particularly temperature increases.
If humanity were not affecting the climate, it concludes, declines in the suns activity and increased eruptions from volcanoes - which throw huge amounts of dust in the air that screen out sunlight - would have been likely to have produced cooling of the planet.
But emissions of all the greenhouse gas pollutants that cause global warming increased 70 per cent between 1970 and 2004 alone, it reports, adding that levels of carbon dioxide, the most important one, in the atmosphere now exceed by far anything that the Earth has experienced in the past 650,000 years. And it goes on to conclude that continued greenhouse gas emissions at or above current rates would cause further warming and induce many changes in the global climate system during the 21st century.
It makes a host of specific predictions for every continent and warns that impacts could be abrupt or irreversible. One example of an irreversible impact is an expected extinction of between 20 and 30 per cent of all the worlds species of animals and plants even at relatively moderate levels of warming. If the climate heats further, it adds, extinctions could rise to 40 to 70 per cent of species.
The IPCC scientists and governments say that they are also more concerned about increases in droughts, heatwaves and floods as the climate warms. They believe that the damage to the worlds economy would be even greater than they had previously predicted, and were even more certain that the poor and elderly in both rich and poor countries would suffer most.
Yet the report also concludes that, while some climate change is now inevitable, its worst effects could be avoided with straightforward measures at little cost if only governments would take action. It says that the job can be done by using technologies that are either currently available or expected to be commercialized in coming decades. It could be done at a cost of slowing global growth by only a tenth of a percentage point a year, and might even increase it.
The missing element, virtually everyone agrees, is political will from governments. Next month they meet in Bali to start negotiations on a new treaty to replace the current provisions of the Kyoto Protocol, which run out in 2012.
The timetable is desperately tight; time lags in the process of getting a new treaty ratified by the worlds governments means that it will have to be agreed by the end of 2009 and there is no sign of anything on the horizon.
Yet the treaty will have to go far beyond the protocol in order to put the whole world on track rapidly to reduce emissions if the world is to achieve the pollution cuts that the scientists say will be needed to avoid catastrophe. And it will have to ensure rapid action. Dr Rajendra Pachauri, the IPCCs chairman, yesterday repeated a consensus among experts that the world as a whole will have to start radical reductions within eight years if there is to be any hope of preventing dangerous climate change.
Stephanie Tunmore of Greenpeace International said: It is clear from this report that we are gambling with the future of the planet and the stakes are high. This document sets out a compelling case for early action on climate change.
The UN Secretary-General, agreed. The effects of climate change have become so severe and so sweeping he said that only urgent, global action will do. There is no time to waste.
Mr Steiner called the report the most essential reading for every person on the planet who cares about the future. He added: The hard science has been distilled along with evidence of the social and economic consequences of global warming, but also the economic rationale and opportunities for action now. While the science will continue to evolve and be refined, we now have the compelling blueprint for action and, in many ways, the price tag for failure from increasing acidification of the oceans to the likely extinction of economically important biodiversity.
And Yvo de Boer, the executive secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change the parent treaty to the Kyoto Protocol told the IoS that reaching agreement was incredibly urgent.
He pointed out that the world would replace 40 per cent of its power generation capacity in the next five to 10 years and that China is already building one or two coal- fired power stations a week. Those installations would last for decades - and the nations that built them would be reluctant to demolish them any earlier - so that unless the world rapidly changed direction it would be all the more difficult to avoid climate change running out of control.
Sticking point: It is crucial to get the US and China on board
Getting agreement on a new treaty to tackle climate change hangs on resolving an after you, Claude impasse between the United States and China, the two biggest emitters of carbon dioxide, the main cause of global warming.
China insists - with other key developing countries like India and South Africa that the United States must move first to clean up. It points out that, because of the disparity in populations, every American is responsible for emitting much more of the gas than each Chinese. But the US refuses to join any new treaty unless China also accepts restrictions.
There is hope of breaking the logjam. Chinese leaders know their country would be severely affected by global warming, and have done more than is generally realized to tackle it, not least by rapidly expanding renewable energy. The US will have a new leader by the time negotiations are completed, and even President Bush is backtracking, at least rhetorically.
Yesterday UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon said he was optimistic. I look forward, he said, with a hint of steel, to seeing the United States and China playing a more constructive role in the coming negotiations.

DHAKA, Bangladesh - Aid workers struggled Friday to help hundreds of thousands of survivors of a cyclone that blasted Bangladesh with 150 mph winds, killing a reported 1,100 people, savaging coastal towns, and leaving millions without power in the deadliest such storm in more than a decade. Rescuers some even employing the brute force of elephants contended with roads that were washed out or blocked by wind-blown debris to try to get water and food to people stranded by flooding from Tropical Cyclone Sidr. The damage to livelihood, housing and crops from Sidr will be "extremely severe," said John Holmes, the U.N. undersecretary-general for humanitarian affairs, adding that the world body was making millions of dollars in aid available to Bangladesh. The winds wreaked havoc on the country's electricity and telephone lines, affecting even areas that were spared a direct hit, and leaving the full picture of the death and destruction unclear. By late Friday, about 24 hours after the cyclone roared ashore, officials were still struggling to get reports from many of the worst-hit districts.Dhaka, the capital city of this poor, desperately crowded nation of 150 million people, remained without power. Winds uprooted trees and sent billboards flying through the air, said Ashraful Zaman, an official at the main emergency control room. CLIP

The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, the Islamic equivalent of the Red Cross, said that figure could climb to 10,000 once rescuers reach all of the storm-affected areas.Azahar Ali is carried by a relative through the rubble on Monday, days after the cyclone hit the area in Patargata, 200 kilometres south of Dhaka.(Pavel Rahman/Associated Press)Thousands of others remain stranded in remote areas after Cyclone Sidr tore down power lines and ripped up roads on Thursday with winds that reached 250 km/h as they whipped through the Bay of Bengal.Reporting from Bangladesh, the CBC's Priya Ramu said the country's armed forces have been deployed to help disaster relief workers move in and out of the damage zones. Tens of thousands of volunteers are scouring through the wreckage, discovering more dead bodies and survivors struggling to find food."The aid needed now is at its most basic: shelter, water and food. As that need grows, so too does the criticism, the frustration around the time it is taking for emergency response to actually reach those in need," Ramu said. CLIP
The Prophet of Climate Change: James Lovelock (Oct 17, 2007) http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/16956300/the_prophet_of_climate_change_james_lovelock/print One of the most eminent scientists of our time says that global warming is irreversible and that more than 6 billion people will perish by the end of the century (...) In Lovelock's view, the scale of the catastrophe that awaits us will soon become obvious. By 2020, droughts and other extreme weather will be commonplace. By 2040, the Sahara will be moving into Europe, and Berlin will be as hot as Baghdad. Atlanta will end up a kudzu jungle. Phoenix will become uninhabitable, as will parts of Beijing (desert), Miami (rising seas) and London (floods). Food shortages will drive millions of people north, raising political tensions. "The Chinese have nowhere to go but up into Siberia," Lovelock says. "How will the Russians feel about that? I fear that war between Russia and China is probably inevitable." With hardship and mass migrations will come epidemics, which are likely to kill millions. By 2100, Lovelock believes, the Earth's population will be culled from today's 6.6 billion to as few as 500 million, with most of the survivors living in the far latitudes -- Canada, Iceland, Scandinavia, the Arctic Basin. By the end of the century, according to Lovelock, global warming will cause temperate zones like North America and Europe to heat up by fourteen degrees Fahrenheit, nearly double the likeliest predictions of the latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the United Nations-sanctioned body that includes the world's top scientists. "Our future," Lovelock writes, "is like that of the passengers on a small pleasure boat sailing quietly above the Niagara Falls, not knowing that the engines are about to fail." And switching to energy-efficient light bulbs won't save us. To Lovelock, cutting greenhouse-gas pollution won't make much difference at this point, and much of what passes for sustainable development is little more than a scam to profit off disaster. "Green," he tells me, only half-joking, "is the color of mold and corruption." (...) Here, in its oversimplified essence, is Lovelock's doomsday scenario: Rising heat means more ice melting at the poles, which means more open water and land. That, in turn, increases the heat (ice reflects sunlight; open land and water absorb it), causing more ice to melt. The seas rise. More heat leads to more intense rainfall in some places, droughts in others. The Amazon rain forests and the great northern boreal forests --the belt of pine and spruce that covers Alaska, Canada and Siberia --undergo a growth spurt, then wither away. The permafrost in northern latitudes thaws, releasing methane, a greenhouse gas that is twenty times more potent than CO2 -- and on and on it goes. (...) "I wish I could say that wind turbines and solar panels will save us," Lovelock responds. "But I can't. There isn't any kind of solution possible. There are nearly 7 billion people on the planet now, not to mention livestock and pets. If you just take the CO2 of everything breathing, it's twenty-five percent of the total --four times as much CO2 as all the airlines in the world. So if you want to improve your carbon footprint, just hold your breath. It's terrifying. We have just exceeded all reasonable bounds in numbers. And from a purely biological view, any species that does that has a crash."This is not to suggest, however, that Lovelock believes we should just party while the world burns. Quite the opposite. "We need bold action," Lovelock insists. "We have a tremendous amount to do." In his view, we have two choices: We can return to a more primitive lifestyle and live in equilibrium with the planet as hunter-gatherers, or we can sequester ourselves in a very sophisticated, high-tech civilization. "There's no question which path I'd prefer," he says one morning in his cottage, grinning broadly and tapping the keyboard of his computer. "It's really a question of how we organize society -- where we will get our food, water. How we will generate energy." (...) "In some ways, its 1939 all over again," he says. "The threat is obvious, but we've failed to grasp what's at stake. We're still talking about appeasement."Then, as now, the lack of political leadership is what's most striking to Lovelock. Although he respects Al Gore's efforts to raise people's consciousness, he believes no politician has come close to preparing us for what's coming. "We'll be living in a desperate world in no time," Lovelock says. He believes the time is right for a global-warming version of Winston Churchill's famous "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat" speech he gave to prepare Great Britain for World War II. "People are ready for this," Lovelock says as we pass under the shadow of the castle. "They understand what's happening far better than most politicians." CLIP
Global food crisis looms as climate change and fuel shortages bite (November 3 2007) http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2007/nov/03/food.climatechange
Soaring crop prices and demand for biofuels raise fears of political instability - Empty shelves in Caracas. Food riots in West Bengal and Mexico. Warnings of hunger in Jamaica, Nepal, the Philippines and sub-Saharan Africa. Soaring prices for basic foods are beginning to lead to political instability, with governments being forced to step in to artificially control the cost of bread, maize, rice and dairy products.Record world prices for most staple foods have led to 18% food price inflation in China, 13% in Indonesia and Pakistan, and 10% or more in Latin America, Russia and India, according to the UN Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO). Wheat has doubled in price, maize is nearly 50% higher than a year ago and rice is 20% more expensive, says the UN. Next week the FAO is expected to say that global food reserves are at their lowest in 25 years and that prices will remain high for years. (...) "If you combine the increase of the oil prices and the increase of food prices then you have the elements of a very serious [social] crisis in the future," said Jacques Diouf, head of the FAO, in London last week. The price rises are a result of record oil prices, US farmers switching out of cereals to grow biofuel crops, extreme weather and growing demand from countries India and China, the UN said yesterday. "There is no one cause but a lot of things are coming together to lead to this. It's hard to separate out the factors," said Ali Gurkan, head of the FAO's Food Outlook programme, yesterday. He said cereal stocks had been declining for more than a decade but now stood at around 57 days, which made global food supplies vulnerable to an international crisis or big natural disaster such as a drought or flood."Any unforeseen flood or crisis can make prices rise very quickly. I do not think we should panic but we should be very careful about what may happen," he warned.Lester Brown, founder of the Washington-based Worldwatch Institute thinktank, said: "The competition for grain between the world's 800 million motorists, who want to maintain their mobility, and its 2 billion poorest people, who are simply trying to survive, is emerging as an epic issue." (...) The food crisis is being compounded by growing populations, extreme weather and ecological stress, according to a number of recent reports. This week the UN Environment Programme said the planet's water, land, air, plants, animals and fish stocks were all in "inexorable decline". According to the UN's World Food Programme (WFP) 57 countries, including 29 in Africa, 19 in Asia and nine in Latin America, have been hit by catastrophic floods. Harvests have been affected by drought and heatwaves in south Asia, Europe, China, Sudan, Mozambique and Uruguay. This week the Australian government said drought had slashed predictions of winter harvests by nearly 40%, or 4m tonnes. "It is likely to be even smaller than the disastrous drought-ravaged 2006-07 harvest and the worst in more than a decade," said the Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics.According to Josette Sheeran, director of the WFP, "There are 854 million hungry people in the world and 4 million more join their ranks every year. We are facing the tightest food supplies in recent history. For the world's most vulnerable, food is simply being priced out of their reach." CLIP

Experts Say Climate Change Threatens National Security (05 November 2007) http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/110607S.shtml
Washington - Climate change could end globalization by 2040 as nations look inward to conserve scarce resources and conflicts flare when refugees flee rising seas and drought, national security experts warned on Monday. Scarcity could dictate the terms of international relations, according to Leon Fuerth of George Washington University, one of the report's authors. Global cooperation based on a resource-rich world could give way to a regime where vital commodities are scarce, Fuerth said at a forum to release "The Age of Consequences." "Some of the consequences could essentially involve the end of globalization as we have known it ... as different parts of the Earth contract upon themselves in order to try to conserve what they need to survive," said Fuerth, who was national security adviser to former Vice President Al Gore. Rich countries could "go through a 30-year process of kicking people away from the lifeboat" as the world's poorest face the worst environmental consequences, which he said would be "extremely debilitating in moral terms." Climate wars threaten billions (November 4 2007) http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2007/nov/04/climatechange.scienceofclimatechange
More than 100 countries face political chaos and mass migration in global warming catastrophe - A total of 46 nations and 2.7 billion people are now at high risk of being overwhelmed by armed conflict and war because of climate change. A further 56 countries face political destabilisation, affecting another 1.2 billion individuals. This stark warning will be outlined by the peace group International Alert in a report, A Climate of Conflict, this week. Much of Africa, Asia and South America will suffer outbreaks of war and social disruption as climate change erodes land, raises seas, melts glaciers and increases storms, it concludes. Even Europe is at risk.'Climate change will compound the propensity for violent conflict, which in turn will leave communities poorer and less able to cope with the consequences of climate change,' the report states. THERE IS NOT MUCH TIME LEFT GEORGE TO REDEEM YOUR SOUL AND SHIFT INTO THE LIGHT... WISE UP MAN!
US power company linked to Bush is named in database as a top polluter
16 November 2007
An American power company with close financial links to President George Bush has been named as one of the world's top producers of global warming pollution.
The first-ever worldwide database of such pollution also reveals the rapid growth in global-warming emissions by power plants in China, South Africa and India. Power plants already produce 40 per cent of US greenhouse gas and 25 per cent of the world's.
But it is the enormous carbon footprint of Southern Company among the largest financiers of Republican Party politicians which has raised eyebrows. Southern's employees handed George Bush $217,047 to help him get elected twice, and they and the company have contributed an extraordinary $6.2m to Republican campaigns since 1990 according to the Centre for Responsive Politics.
A single Southern Company plant in Juliette, Georgia already emits more carbon dioxide annually that Brazil's entire power sector. The company is in the top two of America's dirtiest utility polluters and sixth worst in the world.
Apart from vague promises by the Democratic presidential hopefuls, there is no pressure on this or any other power company to clean up their act and cut back on CO2 emissions.
Politicians from both parties fear the influence of Southern, which spends huge sums both on lobbying and on political campaigns and is among the biggest power players in Washington. It has seen off numerous attempts to impose controls on the amounts of pollution it pumps out.
The link between massive cash contributions by America's power companies and political arm-twisting in Washington has rarely been put into such sharp relief. Environmentalists have long suspected that President Bush's dogged refusal to sign up to international agreements to control global warming was linked to campaign contributions.
Yesterday's report has finally identified the impact these power companies are having on global warming. Southern, which earned $14.4bn in revenues in 2006, is using its influence to block the introduction of wind, solar, biomass and other renewable energy sources on the grounds that it would eat into its profits.
Haley Barbour, one of the main lobbyists for Southern Co when President Bush took office, played a crucial role in persuading him to back away from his original campaign promise to reduce CO2 emissions when he first ran for president in 2000. Mr Barbour is a former chairman of the Republican Party, and was reelected governor of Mississippi last week.
According to FrankO'Donnell of Clean Air Watch, after Mr Bush became president, "he was got at by Haley Barbour, who said, 'Hey, Mr President we didn't elect you to have high energy costs'".
Mr O'Donnell said: "Southern Company Lobbyists treated the president as if he was someone to give orders to and he took them. The upshot is that America's biggest polluters used their chequebooks effectively to block actions to stop global warming."
The detailed breakdown of the worst polluters comes in the form of an on-line database, compiled by the Center for Global Development (CGD), an independent policy and research organisation that focuses on how the actions of the rich world shape the lives of poor people in developing countries.
It lays out exactly where the worst CO2 emitters are and how much greenhouse gas they are pumping into the atmosphere. The globe's most concentrated source of greenhouse gases are the CO2 emissions of 50,000 power plants worldwide.
The database clearly shows the US as the world's biggest carbon dioxide producer from electricity generation emissions that are continuing to grow.
At present electricity companies pump out 2.8 billion tons of CO2 each year. But China, with 2.7 billion tons, is about to overtake the US. The new report also reveals that power plants in other developing countries including South Africa and India emit more than the worst US plant.
A spokesman for Southern Company, Mike Tyndall said the pollution is high " because of the size of the plants which are serving an ever-larger population" .
The company opposes the idea of any legally enforceable cap on emissions, but Mr Tyndall said: "We're at the forefront of developing new technology to address CO2 emissions."
Asked about the huge financial contributions of the company's employees to Republican party politicians, he said: "We don't influence them, but I think it's a good thing that we are involved in the political process."
Highest CO2 Emitting Power Plants in the World http://carma.org/
CARMA reveals the carbon emissions of more than 50,000 power plants and 4,000 power companies in every country on Earth. - While no society will escape the effects of climate change, the five billion people living in poor nations will be affected first and worst. Poor people in the developing world cannot afford to wait for the world's politicians to reach an agreement on the steep reductions in greenhouse gas pollution. CGD's new Carbon Monitoring for Action (CARMA) Web site reveals the carbon emissions of more than 50,000 power plants and 4,000 power companies in every country on Earth, providing investors, insurers, creditors, consumers and environmental advocates the information they need to act now to begin to reduce emissions.
I grew up in North Carolina. My father served in the Navy while we lived there, and I have sailed up and down the Eastern seaboard many times. Like so many people, I love the wild beauty of the North Carolina coast, including its magnificent whales.
So I find it mind-boggling that our government would choose this sensitive environment as the training ground for a type of sonar that can kill whales.
The Navy's new Atlantic Undersea Warfare Training Range would create a 500-square-mile hub of sonar activity -- assaulting whales, dolphins and other marine life with a year-round barrage of deafening sound.
That barrage would occur without apparent interruption -- even during the peak, annual migration of the North Atlantic right whale, one of the most endangered whale species on Earth.
Only about 300 of these whales are believed to exist.
Given what we know about the dangers of sonar, can we stay silent while our military bombards the world's last right whales with this deadly noise?
The Navy itself has admitted that sonar can kill whales. Around the world -- from Hawaii to the Canary Islands -- whales have been found stranded or dying following their encounters with naval sonar. And scientists have demonstrated that intense noise puts right whales in additional danger of being struck and killed by ships.
Strandings have even happened in North Carolina! Thirty seven whales of three different species beached themselves on the shores of the Outer Banks following sonar exercises in 2005. Yet the Navy is planning to build its new testing range just south of where the mass stranding occurred.
If you and I wait for more pictures of dying whales on the beaches of North Carolina it will be too late.
No one is asking the Navy to compromise its training or its readiness. Certainly, I'm not. I'm from a naval family. I fully appreciate the Navy's vital mission.
But we are asking the Navy to find a place and a time for training that is less likely to torture and kill some of the most magnificent creatures on Earth. Taking that simple precaution is the sensible and moral thing to do.
Right whales should not have to die for military practice.
Please join me and the NRDC Action Fund in demanding that the Navy consider less sensitive locations for its new sonar training range and the deadly noise it will produce.
I hope you'll also help us build nationwide opposition to the Navy's proposal by forwarding this message to anyone you know who cares about whales.
Let's not wait for whales to start dying in North Carolina. Please speak out now.

Stop Japan's Whaling Fleet From Killing Humpback Whales! http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/111615377
This year, 1,400 whales, including 50 humpback whales, could die in another senseless annual hunt. Sign the petition to the Ambassador of Japan today In the past 15 years, Japan has increased its catch five-fold. More than 30,000 whales have been killed for commercial purposes since the ban on global whaling in 1986. The Japanese government attempts to defend its whaling program by calling it "scientific" whaling. Killing whales under the guise of conducting research, when the real purpose is to sell their meat for a profit, is deceitful and illegal under international law. Send a strong message to Japan: stop the illegal killing of all whales, including the humpback, immediately! Thank you for helping save these beautiful and majestic creatures! Please go SIGN this petition athttp://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/111615377
Japanese whalers hunt humpbacks http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/pr/fr/-/2/hi/asia-pacific/7099720.stm
The fleet is conducting its largest hunt in the South Pacific - it has instructions to kill up to 1,000 whales, including 50 humpbacks. The humpback hunt is the first since a mid-1960s global ban and has drawn strong protests from environmentalists. Commercial whaling was stopped in 1986 but Japan is permitted whaling in the name of scientific research. Four whaling ships, including the lead craft Nisshin Maru, set off from the southern port of Shimonoseki on Sunday. The 239-man mission plans to kill more than 900 minke whales as well as fin whales and humpbacks, in a South Pacific whale hunt that will run until mid-April. CLIP

Subject: U.N. Petition to Establish a "World Unity Day"
Hello Friend of World Peace,
Herein is a wonderful idea from my friend, Kevin Reid, who composed a world anthem called "We Are One."
Please read his description below, sign his petition for "World Unity Day" and circulate this news to your networks.
In the Spirit of Peace,

FROM KEVIN REID:
U.N. Petition to Establish a "World Unity Day"
November 18, 2007
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I envision a day set aside by humanity to further the cause of world unity.
- a day embraced by individuals, communities, and nations throughout the world.
- a day to celebrate and rejoice in the rich cultural diversity of the human family.
- a day to help establish a foundation upon which future generations can build a world where differences
are honored with respect and love.
- a day where we stand side-by-side, hand-in-hand and proclaim that we are one global family!
to sign the petition. I need your help to collect 1,000,000 signatures with all 192 nations represented. As soon as this is achieved, I will address the U.N. calling for a resolution to establish an internationally recognized "World Unity Day". Please help me by getting as many people as you can to be part of this "collective voice" for world unity. I will not rest until "World Unity Day" is a reality!
The quest for power...
what else has caused more destruction and bloodshed?
refusing to seek and use effective power has been equally destructive...
but in far more seductive and hidden ways.
Both tempters have seduced and crushed me
into what appeared to be irreparable despair.
I now see such forces ripping at the very soul of humanity.
Will we succumb?
Is it too late already?
Do we need this experience?
These questions have tormented my soul
without mercy for over two years...
suddenly seeing with clarity the massive "errors"
of myself, company, nation, and world.
My despair went out of control.
Accompanying the despair
was a level of rage I didn't believe possible...
at self, God, and others...
for betrayals, lies, and abandonment.
I lost all hope.
Even my advanced spiritual foundation failed me.
Many times I have experienced
the magical powers of the divine,
both through external grace and internal intention.
full mastery of these powers eluded me...
often seeming worse than when starting my search.
Many traditions (from ancient to new age)
discuss and teach the magical powers of intention and manifestation.
Hollywood has glorified and magnified it.
Children dream of it.
Leaders lust after it.
And most run from it.
Why does it prove so elusive?
Why do we have so many problems?
Can we ever master it?
Can we create Heaven on Earth?
Could the keys to Heaven be hidden in the depths of Hell?
Consider the greatest leaps and miracles in history.
Did they occur smoothly?
Did they emerge from traditional channels
of education, government, religion, or business?
Or did they emerge out of chaos, despair,
and unorthodox choices?
...championed by unorthodox people
... who were rejected or persecuted
...only recognized years later?
Does it have to be that way?
Can we find less painful ways?
I see humanity in the greatest of such dilemmas right now...
approaching an extremely painful cleansing
unless we make massive changes SOON.
We have virtually unlimited resources available...
from mortal and divine.
But the majority are trapped
by the demons of fear, blame, righteousness, etc.
The Cosmic Christ tells us: "The greatest love of all... is to confront with love; the most hurtful... is to suppress your anger."
Does this seem contradictory?
I've never found anything more difficult...
Perhaps THIS is the key to the kingdom...
the key to REAL power...
Perhaps true power lies in EVERYONE
to lead from wherever you are...
whoever you are.
Perhaps power is more a responsibility
than a gift.
Perhaps we each have far more power
than we realize.
Perhaps our greatest power
is hidden in our worst weakness.
Perhaps our greatest triumph
is hidden in our worst failure.
Perhaps our greatest joy
is hidden in our deepest grief.
Perhaps it's time for tears

Discover similar contributions from the other co-founders though http://weneedadream.org/whoAre.htm where this other soul-rousing call below invites us all to be more than mere observers of this deliriously complex and infinitely challenging world of ours, our collective work-in-progress we are now empowering ourselves to care for wisely, divinely, and yet so simply humanely...
May you listen to your knowing
And connect within your soul
To find out if your highest self
Desires to play a role
May you dream with all your being
And love with all your heart
This precious world you're part of
To create a grand new start
May we do our work so needed
With feet square on the ground
To balance all our wildest dreams
When heads float in the clouds
May we truly learn to dance
With the fiercest of our dragons
And appreciate their fire and power
As fuel to 'mute our demons
YES, we believe in magic
YES, we believe in you
YES, we believe in all mankind
Together, we can make this true
We ARE the dreamers
We ARE all one
We ARE the love and light of God
Our battles will be won
We ARE the dreamers We ARE all one We ARE the love and light of God Our battles will be won
We ARE the dreamers We ARE all one We ARE the love and light of God Our battles WILL BE WON

We choose higher ways of being
transcending self-defeating poisons...
blame, punishment, righteousness, arrogance, clinging, guarantee, self-pity, and avoidance
Society is addicted to the above poisons (spiritual narcotics), even embracing some of these poisons as "right and good". Like narcotics, they give temporary highs. However, these poisons are the primary cause of most individual and collective ills... physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. And they are just as addictive as physical narcotics.
Until the destructive and addictive powers of these poisons are recognized and acknowledged, no amount of money, medicine, laws, or caring will make a dent in the massive ills and challenges we face.
Blame currently encouraged by our legal system, media, and others is out of control. It gives a temporary feeling of doing "right" and feeling important. However it's avoiding the much more difficult task of looking within and seeking resolution for ALL.
Punishment the next step after blame will NOT resolve the underlying problems. A shift to natural law thinking of choice and consequences (not punitive) plus involvement by ALL in setting rules and consequences is the higher path. Offering choices is paramount.
Righteousness being closed to other ways of thinking and believing than one's own seeking to convert others to the "right" way. This cripples democracy and alienates people.
Arrogance also known as self-importance or better-than is the top cause of hate towards America, warranted or not. Even if overstated, it is critical to recognize, acknowledge, and resolve such perceptions if we wish to reduce terrorism, fear, and other crippling forces.
Clinging to the past, negative feelings, old beliefs, "stuff", relationships, addictions, heroes, jobs, money, power, etc. Life flows in cycles (like seasons), where contraction, decay, even death are natural parts. Fighting this flow is hopeless. Working with it (like Aikido) is magic.
Guarantee expects guaranteed or risk-free outcomes blaming others when falling short. An essential step out of this trap is embracing the laws of karma, balance, and responsibility (e.g. allowing or creating one's reality) plus the power of love to transmute anything. Conversely, we can sabotage anything just by negative thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and attitudes.
Self-pity shows up as victim-hood or martyrdom. And it drags well-meaning but unaware enablers into codependency (fueling soap operas, lawyers, bureaucrats, and preachers). The antidotes are similar to those for "guarantee". While very difficult to accept by many, they are incredibly empowering and freeing.
Avoidance is perhaps the most common and elusive poison. Examples include: avoidance of responsibility, discomfort, work, vulnerability, confrontation, rejection, restraint, pain, ridicule, change, truth, etc.
Embrace love for all... even enemies Jesus, Buddha, Ghandi, King, and Lincoln are just a few of the many masters and leaders who taught love of others (including enemies). Why have their followers largely ignored or poorly practiced these teachings? Do we believe them? Do we wish to embrace them? What is required to improve?
Loving those who hate or attack us is very difficult even if we know how. Perhaps it is time to really learn and master this most difficult of challenges. The rewards will more than compensate for the pain.
Use power responsibly... seeking highest good for all America has received unbelievable gifts and advantages e.g. land, resources, education, freedom, wealth, leisure, etc. Many believe we have grossly misused them e.g. domination, self-indulgence, deceit, waste, etc. The results of this misuse are violence, abuse, fear, poverty, pollution, restrictions, and more.
Miracles energize when power is used to benefit all (i.e. love) creating unlimited abundance, peace, health, and joy.
Create a new Constitution empowering ALL people We have the education and technology to empower ALL people to participate in government. Our current system has concentrated immense power in the hands of too few leading to uncontrollable inefficiency, maneuvering, and corruption. More laws and enforcement will only amplify the problems no matter how well-intended.
We MUST distribute power and responsibility among ALL the people according to their ability and desires.
Create a new Bill of Rights and Responsibilities Freedom requires responsibility. Our system encourages irresponsibility by granting many freedoms without teaching, encouraging, and rewarding responsibility. Instead, top-down laws dictate complex and inappropriate demands and punishments without truly involving all in the process.
It is time to offer inspiring incentives to participate and contribute to other people, nation, and world drawing the very best from human nature.
Open all government to reinvention... by ALL the people Our government is hopelessly mired in complexity and bureaucracy requiring total reexamination and reinvention. Mistrust in leaders, laws, and propaganda is too severe for band-aids and patches.
We need a new start involving EVERYONE.
Open ourselves to reinvention... using all resources Reinventing the nation begins with reinventing ourselves. We must fearlessly face the greatest of tyrants and deceivers US.
The poisons listed earlier are the first hurdle. Mastering love is next.
Powerful networks of education and support can facilitate this largely by inspired and dedicated volunteers. A U.S. Dept. of Peace, Love, and Well-being (mostly volunteer) could also help IF we keep primary responsibility with the people (i.e. not give away our power).
Transcend selfishness... to stewardship The American dream has encouraged and glorified wealth, power, prestige, and self-indulgence with massive support from government, television, advertising, and technology.
Humanity (especially the USA) is saturating such pursuits, thirsting for something more. Desperate attempts for more pleasure, excitement, and control are creating ills and addictions of every type and hatred by have-nots. Continuing this path will create excruciating pain, disease, and violence.
Many know the miraculous fulfillment in stewardship of people and planet. However godlike wisdom and love are mandatory to attain such fulfillment.
Appreciate gifts and blessings... including the negative Gratitude is one of the most miraculous "drugs" for healing and transmuting anything. Setting aside time to inventory and "bless one's blessings" is required on the path to fulfillment and wholeness.
Often, the greatest gifts are hidden in what appears the most hurtful, destructive, and evil. Universal law is based on rhythmic balanced interchange e.g. day and night, winter and summer, birth and death. How can one know and appreciate one without the other?
Seek the purpose of life... and our responsibility to ALL The big questions Who are we? Why are we here? What do we need? Humanity is in a collective mid-life crisis and many are asking these questions. However many are succumbing to quick-fixes, giving their power away to leaders, gurus, and organizations settling for anything that will ease their discomfort (i.e. spiritual narcotics).
If humanity is to reach its calling (e.g. heaven on earth), a collective commitment is needed to face our personal and collective dragons, slay them with love, and discover the treasures they ferociously guard.
Courage, perseverance, and humility are mandatory.
Embrace forgiveness... no matter the crime Forgiveness competes with gratitude in power to heal and transmute. Forgiveness does not imply ignoring or dropping transgressions. Forgiveness requires courage and work to truly understand the deeper causes, deeper needs, and hidden opportunities.
Many believe that everything in life is a gift from the divine even the negative. Will we rise to the challenge?
Make amends for errors... transmuting poisons Making amends may transcend even gratitude and forgiveness in power to heal and transmute. We in the USA have massive "opportunities" to engage this power i.e. our list of unresolved transgressions is huge.
However we must first transcend our norm of blame, punishment, and victim mentality. We MUST understand and embrace the universal laws of karma and responsibility to make this giant leap.
THEN we can make effective and appropriate amends (not punishment), benefiting ALL parties and based on freewill choices (not force).
Define and seek "Heaven on Earth" Heaven on Earth basking in beautiful gardens of blissfully serene beings. Right?
For many, this would be hell boring, stagnant, unchallenging.
So what IS "Heaven on Earth"?
Perhaps we need public dialogue and dreaming to define it
and then seek it. Comment from Jean: I'd say this vision can be applied globally just as well.
Imagine for a moment what is now possible nowadays with all the resources available at pour fingertips, all the creativity, genius, open-heartedness and goodwill exemplified in such a declaration and through soooo many brilliant initiatives abounding around the world. There is just so much we can achieve all together once we put our minds and hearts together and co-create the New Era of Peace, Love and Harmony for all that we all cherish in our soul dreams...
The Australian aboriginal have this concept of a collective dreamtime through which all is perceived, interpreted and understood. The modern concept of paradigm is another way to put it.
Now is the time for co-manifesting a New Dreamtime that will encompass God's Will as a reflection of what we envision at the deepest Oneness level of our souls, and help bring to Life our wildest dreams and offer to our children and all the descendants of our spiritual lineage the gift of a peaceful, loving, exuberant and ever so respectful global human tribe, One with Life, One with the Universe. One with God.
What if we already have Heaven on Earth and we just didn't realize it yet?...
