1) SUMMARY

Once upon a time, ten sages of great wisdom came to Earth to assist the awakening human beings upon their path of self-discovery. Each one of them has a unique gift to share with all who are ready to listen to them. Each of these ten gifts is an essential element that each soul aspiring to complete spiritual awakening needs to embody perfectly in order to succeed. The understanding of Love as the first Key was the gift offered by the first sage. Compassion is the gift presented by the second sage. Here is what this sage has to say about it.

In essence, we are all One, but in the physical form we appear as separate beings, each seemingly unrelated to all other beings. Yet this is an illusion, as all Life forms are intrinsically connected to all others through the same Life Force pulsing and flowing through their cells. Realizing that deep within leads to increased caring for all others in service to the One Life in All. Compassion is that sense of being-responsible-for-the-well-being-of-all in action. Acting with compassion is also love in action, for love and compassion are both sides of the same coin.

Once we embody compassion, through all kinds of gratuitous, selfless acts of kindness, we know from the fulfilling sentiment of doing what is needed for the highest good of all that we have become an instrument of a Higher Purpose. Through opening ourselves to being such instruments of the One Life in All, we cease to experience the illusion of separation, for in completely surrendering ourselves to serving All That Is through whatever opportunity presenting itself to us in perfect synchrony, we become One with All That Is.

Thus through embodying Compassion, the Second Key of your Global Awakening, you step into and co-create the New Era of Peace, Love and Harmony that is now manifesting.

As you join in synchronous meditation with all, simply Be All The Compassion That You Can Be, for the Highest Good of All.

Meditation Focus #46: The Need For Greater Compassion Towards All Our Fellow Human Beings (Posted on September 1, 2001)
http://www.earthrainbownetwork.com/FocusArchives/MeditationFocus46.htm

Living the Compassionate Life by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama
http://www.shambhalasun.com/revolving_themes/HHDL/compassion.htm
(...) Compassion without attachment is possible. Therefore, we need to clarify the distinctions between compassion and attachment. True compassion is not just an emotional response but a firm commitment founded on reason. Because of this firm foundation, a truly compassionate attitude toward others does not change even if they behave negatively. Genuine compassion is based not on our own projections and expectations, but rather on the needs of the other: irrespective of whether another person is a close friend or an enemy, as long as that person wishes for peace and happiness and wishes to overcome suffering, then on that basis we develop genuine concern for their problem. This is genuine compassion.

Compassion From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compassion
Compassion (in Pali: Karuna) is a sense of shared suffering, most often combined with a desire to alleviate or reduce such suffering; to show special kindness to those who suffer. Compassionate acts are generally considered those which take into account the suffering of others and attempt to alleviate that suffering as if it were one's own. In this sense, the various forms of the Golden Rule are clearly based on the concept of compassion. Compassion differs from other forms of helpful or humane behavior in that its focus is primarily on the alleviation of suffering. Acts of kindness which seek primarily to confer benefit rather than relieve existing suffering are better classified as acts of altruism, although, in this sense, compassion itself can be seen as a subset of altruism, it being defined as the type of behavior which seeks to benefit others by reducing their suffering.

HURRICANE KATRINA RESPONSE

World Prayer Project Alert

People across the world are focusing their thoughts and prayers on those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Those affected include residents of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, rescuers, medical personnel, volunteer relief workers, government officials, animals, and families and friends.

Let us consciously join together with prayer group members and others around the world as we connect inwardly with the spirit of the one God of Love. Feel this energy of love filling us all, and moving out to all of those who have been affected by the hurricane. Let us see the greatest and best outcome for this situation, as thousands rebuild their lives, or forge new ones. May all affected find peace, strength, and hope. May the restorative power of prayer bring them health, and eventually happiness. Envision all who remain stranded to be quickly and safely rescued, all who remain hungry, thirsty and without shelter to be cared for immediately. Envision the waters of New Orleans being purified. Envision the rebuilding efforts in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama being swift and filled with synchronisitic possibility.

Let us all think of ourselves as Peace Movers willing to quickly channel love and healing where it is needed. Prayer works and the more people praying the better. Let intuition and synchronicity guide you as you mention the WORLD PRAYER PROJECT to others who might be interested in joining an ever-growing group devoted to intensive prayer held as a constant image. Let us grow until we become millions spreading prayer across the world.

Blessings,

James Redfield, Salle Merrill Redfield

First-hand reaction to Katrina refuges

Anne Gervasi is a licensed psychologist. She donated her time and her talent working with Katrina refuges at first, Reunion Arena and then, the Civic Center. This is her first hand account and reaction to what she had to deal with. If you blog, please put this out there. We want everyone in the country to read this first-hand account of the horror that is Dallas. If you have an extensive mailing list like I do, please forward it, too.

There are so many words that come to mind. As a scholar I am thinking Diaspora, social displacement, systemic disruption, mass trauma, pandemic and unbelievable chaos. As a clinician, I am looking at something that we have never been trained to handle in this country--a level of victimization and its resultant psycho-social ripples that mandate a whole new field of clinical practice-mass victimology. Katrina kicked the top off of a racist and social termite's nest that has been growing beneath the ground since Reconstruction. These were deeply religious people who have lost God and for that matter, faith and hope. Hope has been replaced by magical thinking that augurs a second and more terrible level of social disruption and anger not far down the road.

Over and over, I kept hearing a framing of self that puzzled me until I realized that this is how it must have been for blacks after Reconstruction. Over and over, people said, "everyone has been so wonderful, thank you, thank you." When I said, "there is no need to thank us, you are our fellow citizens and we want to help you--American to American," there would be a long pause as if the idea of being the same never struck them before.

They are angry and it is growing. The system failed them. For that matter, there is no system because all the safeguards and preparations that we thought were in place aren't there. I have been begging anyone who would listen over the past two years for a program in mass victimology to prepare for the next tragedy after 9/11. Now it is here and the lack of organization, science, and preparation are going to result in terrible consequences for us as a nation.

Imagine sending people who have been assimilated into the most stable demographic population in America into cities and towns all over the US who are as unprepared as the victims to understand their sense of dislocation and their support needs. The lower Gulf States have a language, a history, a social dynamic, a faith, a societal structure, and a ritual system unlike any other in America. These people have lived in and been acculturated to this system for generations. When the dust settles and the mud dries, we are going to see all over America, a nation that will lose patience with the needs of a foreign refugee population. Abandoned once again, the fury and the trauma that have been momentarily quieted by the outpouring of empathy and support post-crisis, will arise larger and more terrible than we have been equipped as a nation to handle. I hear it now, over and over, in the survivor stories, in the loss of self, and the need to reclaim dignity and power.

Right now, numbness is being replaced by magical thinking. "People want me here--here is better. I think I'll stay here." What is going to happen when reality sets in? The bulk of people who are planning to stay don't understand the system here. Even though we abut borders, we are a vastly different nation. At least we are southerners. What is going to happen to the thousands being sent to Connecticut or Illinois or New Jersey? They are being offered free apartments, furniture etc, by generous and well meaning people who haven't thought the long term consequences through very well. A lot of the apartments are in areas where they won't have transportation or jobs. What is going to happen six months down the road when the magic wears off and the help slowly fades? How about the holidays for a people who thrive on ritual, tradition, and celebration?

The trauma they are experiencing is so profound that we have no cultural term or machinery set up for it. The dead and nameless bodies by the thousands rotting in the water, arriving dead on the buses with them, or dying next to them in the shelters are a huge festering wound that no one dares mention. This is a true Diaspora the likes of which we haven't seen since Reconstruction. The immediate needs that are being addressed ignore the greater traumas yet to be spoken. No governmental system can survive the number of wounded and disillusioned people that we are going to see sprouting up all over America. Something far greater and more organized has to be done.

Then to the helpers and what is happening there. Turf wars have already sprung up. In the name of "I know better than you do," chaos and wasted energy are multiplying. The Red Cross was initially in charge of certifying the credentials of the helping therapists. After Oklahoma City and the pretenders who arrived there, this seemed like a wonderful clearing house. Everyone who wanted to help had to go through a brief orientation and a thorough checking of credentials. Only licensed professionals were allowed. Driver's licenses were checked for criminal records. This seemed to be a common sense excellent approach to the question of rapists, pedophiles, and other thugs being denied access to a vulnerable population. Actually, things ran better than I expected at the beginning. Then in came the physicians who I guess felt that their non-existent coursework in this area qualified them to better run things. Immediate chaos, disorganization, and all sorts of ersatz "helpers" began running around. They grabbed our current Red Cross badges and then stopped us from going back on the floor to finish seeing our patients without the new badges, which they just happened to be out of. We had an optometrist with prescriptive lenses but no glasses or readers and no idea when he'd ever see any. We had a deaf booth but no deaf helpers. In the midst of all this chaos, thousands and thousands of the walking wounded mixing with the powerless well-intentioned came the whispered word, pandemic. Lots of people are suddenly getting sick, and we have to have precautions. Don't eat or drink or touch the patients. We only have one bottle of disinfectant in the mental health section, so come back here--the length of the Convention Center--after each patient. "What of the people who are being cycled out of here?" "What are we sending into the population?" If people are sick and contagious, where are the precautions to separate the vulnerable? What of precautions such as masks and gloves to keep the medical professionals and first responders safe? All the here and now is suspended in the hope that maybe tomorrow will take care of itself and the worst won't happen. Those are the question we asked on the first day. NO ONE IS IN CHARGE

Therefore, there is no consistent answer or approach or forethought. I am no infection guru but as soon as I heard on day one that people with no water were forced to drink water with bloated bodies, feces, and rats in it, the thought of cholera, typhoid, and delayed disease immediately occurred to me. What if the fears of disease are correct? People are fanning out throughout America. Where is the CDC?

In the age of computers, we are doing worse than the pencil squibs and the rolls of paper to log in the displaced after World War II. Literacy and computer access seems to be considered as a given for people who have lost it all. Accessing FEMA is through a website. People are in shelters waiting for FEMA to come "in a few days." "Be patient." The Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana pumped my hand and replied to my desperate queries about how to help people find their parents and babies, "Be patient--give us a few days."

The mot hers who have lost their children, and there are many, and the children who have lost their parents, have had it with the "be patient" response. The shelters are surprisingly silent. It is hard to find the traumatized mothers because they cry silently. One mother asked how patient I would be if my five-month-old was somewhere unknown for over a week. Over and over, others would ask," Do you think my baby has milk and diapers?" "Do you think they are being kind to my baby?" And then, so softly that I would have to ask them to repeat, "Do you think my baby is okay?" My response--the convenient lie. Every time I said, "of course"; I prayed to God that it was true.

I am sure that there is a special ring of hell for the media: The survivor stories end-on-end for the titillation of the public. I heard Soledad O'Brien say something about the still unrecognized need to address the psychological trauma. I sent a response to the CNN tip-line that there were hordes of every manner of mental health professional working 24/7. CNN's response? Dr. Phil and the stories of the survivors" on Larry King. They went to the guy who lost his clinical license for serious professional infractions to tell the stories? I could see the "entertainer" down there gathering tales of the already exploited so that he and Larry could both pimp their ratings. The real unsung mental health heroes, the counselors, psychologists, social workers and psychiatrists dealing with un-medicated psychosis and severe traumatic responses were represented by Dr. "Keep-It-Real"? We don't need tabloid help from the media. Scream about accountability and point fingers for those who can't. Where is the real help from the media? Help us find those babies and parents and missing family. We have a man in one of the shelters who is caring for four kids. They call him uncle. He is actually the cousin of the fiancé of the mother who is probably dead. The children are silent. They sit and play and weep with open mouths that can't scream. Where is the media to scream for them?

Finally, to hell with this "no blame game." The stories that I know to be true are enough to make me boil. The compassionate foreign doctors who can't find anyone to validate their credentials, the expensive mobile hospital still sitting parked waiting for federal paperwork to move into Louisiana, the five C130s sitting on the Tarmac in San Diego since the night of Katrina, still waiting for orders to move. Where the hell are the beds? We have some old people sleeping on hot plastic pool floats with no sheets. They are still no showers for people who have walked for hours through fetid waters. Their skin is breaking out in rashes. Still no showers. Where the hell are the DeCon showers bought with Homeland Security money that can shower 30 people at a time. The convention centers have no bathing facilities so the filth and skin reactions are getting worse. What of lice? There are no clothes for the really heavy and large. I was reduced to writing the women I knew who went to Weight Watchers to comb their attics for "before" outfits. When I arrived with the sack of my gatherings, I had to engage in a full scale battle and puff myself up to all my red-headed doctor fury to get them distributed to the women still sitting there in their stinking clothes.

The survivors are like the Mayor of New Orleans who apologized to George Bush for his anger. "If we tell the way we feel, maybe help will stop." All the apologists on the air distancing George and his co-vacationers and idiot appointees should be impeached. I liked Nagin when he called it all bullshit. He was right. How about Haley Barbour complaining about the lack of support for his state? Did he so soon forget his past life and what he did to set up this government of spin artists? If they had acted like a government the body count would be less. The aid would be better managed. The days of filth, and feces, and death would have been ended sooner. God help all of the poseurs in charge when these folks finally get in touch with their justifiable rage. Did you see the White House's logo for the hurricane? George and some asshole in a ball cap against a background of Katrina waving the flag. They had the energy and time for a nice logo but no time to get the elements of help in gear?

The tragedy is leavened by some moments of farce, the guy who arrived with a case of Gucci shoes in various sizes that he "saved" from his closet. The man wearing twelve expensive watches up his arm. I guess he is a punctual sort. There are the too-poignant-for-words vignettes. I saw a lady sitting on a blanket holding a photo of two children that she had pulled from the water. She kept crying and looking at it. I thought they were her children. She didn't know whose they were. They were just losses and she mourned them.

Of course there were the criminals, thugs, and mobsters. One of the greatest indictments of the "spin machine" that is going to come from this situation will be the repeated characterizations of the victims as lawless and criminal. Over and over I heard people tell me about how ashamed they were to be portrayed that way. Ninety-nine percent of these people never were characterized as anything but lawful and good citizens. In their most desperate hours to be reduced to taking food and water to survive and then to be lumped with the television thieves and the shooters is too shameful for most of them to bear. I heard from hospital employees that survived on a cup of watered grits so that the patients could make it. And then I heard had they had to hide the ones that didn't in closets to keep up the morale of the others.

The people that survived this tragedy and the people who help them all know one truth. The help and the love and the care that has been extended to them have been on a citizen-to-citizen basis. The churches, doctors, therapists, and ordinary citizens who are giving all they can in time and resources are managing to band-aid at the most elementary level-neighbor to neighbor. The government has failed We are more vulnerable now than before 9/11 because faith in the system is gone. No system can sustain itself as a viable entity when the citizenry are the walking wounded. Victims implode a system from within and expose its decay. This is the beginning of the end unless we can get a drastic change of philosophy and restore the government to a system "by the people for the people." Right now nobody down here believes we have that.

Co-Creating a New Collective Consciousness

(...) Through the act of nourishing ourselves, may all beings be nourished. May we be nourished by spiritual beings; may we in turn nourish them, making them a part of our life.

May all beings have shelter and enough to eat. May all beings develop and grow in love and compassion and tolerance.

May we celebrate our diversity and honour our similarities; we all want to be happy and fulfilled; none of us want to suffer or want others to suffer.

May we act to bring benefit to this world and all beings. May we learn to love and be gentle with ourselves and each other.

When problems arise, may we seek to understand what the other person is experiencing and develop open communication and compassion, know the situation is created by our misperceptions, miscommunications, misunderstandings and our conditioned, unconscious patterns.

May we respect and honour our home and take great care of it. To rape the earth, destroy the trees, plants and species of life is to violate and destroy our home. To pollute the earth and the air is to poison ourselves and all life. Let us make the decision to STOP.

May we grow and eat pure, natural foods that nourish the earth and nourish ourselves. May we take care of that which we can take care of and trust that others can learn to take care of themselves.

May no child be born ever again who is not a wanted child, who will not be loved and cherished and cared for.

May I never again abuse my body or my mind. May I experience tranquillity and the vastness of the potential of my mind, which I can only at present have glimpses of.

May I become the best, the highest, the truest of that which I have the potential to become -- which is limitless.

May I become truly enlightened, that I may benefit all beings.

May there be an end to suffering and war and ignorance on this planet.

May I live from my heart, in unity with other hearts. And may I see and understand the great pain in so many beings, and may all wounds be healed.

May I with courage face that which I fear most, and come face to face with the weak, negated, repressed and distorted parts of myself; understanding that by moving fearlessly in this direction, asking and receiving help when I need it, standing alone when I need to do that, I will uncover the gold in the heart of my being, the Buddha and the beloved.

There are no rights and wrongs any more. No faults or blame. Only situations and events to be open to, to learn from and move on. No scapegoats, its old hat. I can look at what I am experiencing, and ask: what can I do to change this and increase my understanding, compassion and love for all beings?

At the very least, I will endeavour to do as little harm as possible.

And I intend to become wise.

Wisdom comes from many sources and is unmistakable when it is heard. The wisdom that says "don't let continue this confrontation -- we are all guilty of creating it. How can we heal this?" The wisdom that leads to dialogue, to finding common interests, core agreements, in honesty and openness.

Oppressors everywhere are to be pitied, not feared. The time for fear is over. The time for all of us to become fully ourselves in the world is now. No more excuses or complaints, resistances or distractions. There is no-one to shift the blame to anymore. You have a unique talent to express in this lifetime and you are the only one who can potentialize it.

All you have to do is to start, with the decision to want to. Divine energies will come into your life to help, aid and assist you. But the momentum and desire for change starts with you.

If all the enlightened beings who ever existed could, with the power of their love and compassion, enlighten us, they would have done -- we would all be enlightened. But it isn't possible, no-one can act for us. We are responsible for our own actions, no-one else.

Every day, may I be inspired to become more positive in my mind. May I with ever-increasing vigilance weed out the negatives as they arise. May my mind become ever more familiar in both the visible and invisible realities, and see the intrinsic purity, connectedness and interdependence of all things. May I comfortably live in both worlds, simultaneously, lightly and with joy.

And may many beautiful blessings come to you in every moment.

From: http://www.earthrainbownetwork.com/LightworkersPath.htm

Lightworkers on the Path

There are different ways of working, besides the political level, there are also the humanitarians, the peacemakers and the lightworkers. In a sense the lightworkers have the most difficult task and rarely receive recognition or acknowledgement for their work. They may put a lot of time and energy into this work but oftentimes the results are not obvious and may not be visibly seen by the uninitiated and are also difficult to explain or define.

Yet we must never allow this to create doubts in our minds. For lightworkers with the purest of intention working from the highest level of integrity, can have great influence and accomplish amazing feats, for lightwork is the realm of the miraculous. Oftentimes, we do not know the outcome of our work, so we have to just keep following our intuition or the guidance that is given. Spiritual endeavours are accomplished with the blessings and guidance of those on the higher realms. In performing lightwork, we rise above the apparent and the obvious and move towards the realms of the celestial. This is the realm of all possibilities, wherein we can expect the unexpected, and know that divine intervention is always possible.

We can never fully understand the karmic implications of any given situation or why things happen in a certain way. We may see what led up to it and what happened before that, but we cannot see how far back in history those karmic threads go to create the karmic repercussions that are occurring today. We therefore cannot put blame and it is not our position to do so, for ultimately we cannot see the whole picture and unconsciously we may be biased by our cultural and social programming.

We cannot see the great Master Plan, though sometimes we are given glimpses, insights and revelations that help us gain a clearer understanding and propel us forward. The Divine Presence and the Ascended Masters desire to work with those who are willing and ready, but first we need to prepare ourselves and purify in order to become pure channels, so as to be able to receive what is given. By maintaining a constant state of peace and harmony within and releasing and transforming all negative discord, we can recreate the balance that is needed, first on a personal level and then globally.

As lightworkers, we must continue to question ourselves as to what more we can do. So often we feel impotent, like our hands are tied and that the systems that govern do not allow us the freedom to create or to do what we want to do. To aid this process, we must become more peaceful and harmonious in ourselves and maintain a clear, vibrant energy field. As that energy field becomes more radiant, it subtly influences everything around us. This is known as our circle of influence, which spreads out much further that we realize.

Remaining focused and steadfast in our work requires determined energy and a lot of patience and perseverance. Sometimes it takes great courage to hold our vision in the face of adversity. As we come more into alignment with the divine, with a power that is far greater than ourselves, we are asked to be more gracious and more humble and to go beyond the ego. From there we can step into the arena of the unlimited and the boundless and gain a more expansive, richer and deeper sense of self. The Divine Presence will guide us, support and nourish us and give us the clarity we need on a daily basis, so as to help further our personal growth and the work we are here to do. Healing the separation from the divine is the most important work we can do. When we call upon the divine for help or assistance, it is always given but not necessarily in the way we expect it.

When we move into stillness, into the deepest stillness within our being, where every fluctuation and vibration can be felt, we are nourished by the energy of the divine as it fills us up. In this state, we can leave behind our daily woes and cares, and go beyond our personal desires, frustrations and expectations as we are wrapped and protected by the wings of the divine. Through moving into a state of beingness and grace, we can create a beautiful and harmonious field of love and light.

It does not matter what our background, faith or religion is, because in a higher state of consciousness, we transcend them all. When we transcend, we move beyond all dogma and differences. In unity consciousness, we know and appreciate the oneness of all living things. As our alignment with the divine increases and we are able to maintain it both during meditation and throughout the day, we start to experience samadhi, pure realized consciousness, which brings total awareness and full compassion for humanity. Alignment may come through prayer or meditation or through a deep reverence of the divine. Meditation is a tool that allows us access into the depths of our beingness, into the vast reservoirs of the heart and mind. This gives us clarity and a deeper understanding of how we can truly be of service to humanity. As lightworkers, we have a great task before us, we are called to embrace this role with joy and courage and to diminish all fear, knowing that support is always given.

We have moved into a new era, and a new energy is pouring into the planet. It is the energy of the Divine Feminine. This energy is available to anyone who is open to it, both men and women. The Divine Feminine brings with it the qualities of unconditional love, compassion, forgiveness, peace, harmony, warmth and nurturing. It is a softer and sweeter energy; it is more nourishing and protective. The Divine Feminine ignites the threefold flame within the heart, the flames of love, wisdom and power, which are so desperately needed in the world. The Divine Feminine fills us with love and helps us to transform all discordant tendencies right down to the cellular level so as to bring about a spiritual metamorphosis.

The Divine Feminine challenges us to be all that we can be, to grow into our full potential and to move into a more expansive and blissful way of being. Once we have tasted the nectar of the Divine Feminine, it will open and soften our hearts and heal the wounds of the past so that we can actualise and work consciously from our true spiritual self. Then each of us can become a teacher in our own right, sharing the knowledge and the wisdom we have gained. Sometimes we are required to be more public or to teach verbally, and other times we teach silently through our presence, through the vibrations we give out.

Through daily alignment, attunement and meditation, we continually sharpen our skills of observation. The spiritual path is an embarkation on a never ending journey of self actualisation and development, so as to transform ourselves into beings of light that work consciously together to create a better life for all. As lightworkers on the path, we have a deep responsibility to live and work from the heart. Yes to enlighten our minds as well, for this gives us the ability to actualise our vision but always to remember to retain our purity of intention and to be steadfast in living from the highest level of integrity.

Brothers and sisters of the light let us remember that as we walk the spiritual path, we are never alone. Together we are creating a web of light and love, which is circling and spreading all over the planet. And on higher realms, great beings of light are waiting in the ethers, always ready to assist us. Let us strengthen our determination to rise above the mere mortal and mundane, to be aware of our immortality, our beingness, our spiritual nature and yet at the same time not to forget our humanness and the difficulties that we sometimes encounter because of it.

Love and light,
