Turning Tide of History #18: Rapturous Knowledge to Free Your Soul From Self-Absorbed Passivity (July 7)

1) SUMMARY

As a fairly large portion of the world is about to watch the final match of the Football World Cup to be played in Berlin at 20:00 hr local time (2:00 pm New York Time), thus enjoying another opportunity to share the global excitement and a unity-fostering common interest in this highly competitive sport event, we are being reminded once again of the potential for global human brotherhood that has been growing for the past century despite extremely divisive wars and genocides. The innate nature of every human being is conducive to recognizing that there is far more that unites us all than there could ever be that separates us. So rather than delving upon the ever so frustrating slow progress of some segments of humanity towards living an existence of joyful compassion, spontaneous kindness for all, and cheerful love for every other member of the global human family, we can celebrate the ever rebounding spirit of brother-sisterhood that all such global events illustrates in various ways.

It is painfully obvious that any violent behavior against man and nature is bound to lead us all into a very difficult situation, while loving care for all sentient life and the joyful expression of one's true innate happiness and love will open up a new era of unprecedented peace and harmony on Earth. So focusing our attention and nurturing through our common resolve the flame of global human brotherhood is perhaps the best way to kindle an urge in all to actively seek the ways and means to manifest the world of peace, abundance and love we all deserve as children of the One Creative Force of this universe,

Please dedicate your prayers and meditations, as guided by Spirit, in the coming three weeks, and especially in synchronous attunement at the usual time this Sunday and the following two Sundays to assist in extending the spirit of joy, celebration and mutual appreciation so as to perpetuate and expand the atmosphere of cohesiveness and unified will for Good that permeates any sporting event that is dedicated to the true accomplishment of human excellence for the benefit and appreciative enjoyment of all. Let us anchor through our unifying will for Peace, Love and Harmony for all, the unrelenting Force for Good that is growing by leaps and bounds most everywhere on Terra Gaia, for the Highest Good of All.

When They Sleep

All people are children when they sleep.
There's no war in them then.
They open their hands and breathe
in that quiet rhythm heaven has given them.

They pucker their lips like small children
and open their hands halfway,
soldiers and statesmen, servants and masters.
The stars stand guard
and a haze veils the sky,
a few hours when no one will do anybody harm.

If only we could speak to one another then
when our hearts are half-open flowers.
Words like golden bees
would drift in.
-- God, teach me the language of sleep.

3. MORE INFORMATION RELATED TO THIS MEDITATION FOCUS

This complement of information may help you to better understand the various aspects pertaining to the summary description of the subject of this Meditation Focus. It is recommended to view this information from a positive perspective, and not allow the details to tinge the positive vision we wish to hold in meditation. Since what we focus on grows, the more positive our mind-set, the more successful we will be in manifesting a vision of peace and healing. This complementary information is provided so that a greater knowledge of what needs healing and peace-nurturing vibrations may assist us to have an in-depth understanding of what is at stake and thus achieve a greater collective effectiveness.

LEARN TO LIVE TOGETHER - Peace is to live together http://www.ncte-in.org/pub/unesco/ch13.htm
(...) This theme basically presents the values of co-operation, coexistence, sharing and solidarity in a world that is being pulled apart, by ethnic, religious, individualistic and other separate forces. Learning to live together has been recognized and declared as one of the four pillars of education in the Doler report on education for the 21st century. Today ethnic, religious and other divisive ideologies justify violence against man. Perhaps we inherit the divisive mentality from our tribalistic instincts. Division leads to conflicts and ultimately to war and destruction. Obviously, the world is shrinking into a global village due to the technical advancements, which facilitate travelling, communication and transaction. Yet our present mindsets are unable to accommodate the global unity of mankind. What we really need is to enlarge our minds when the world is becoming small. Only then can we capture the global human brotherhood. Unless we overcome the tribalistic mentality of divisive tendency, we are as a species, doomed to extinction, through destroying each other. By learning to live together we broaden our vision, gradually move from self-centredness, to community, to nation and from there to the global family. It also means to learn to co-operate and share with each other and accept diversity and live in harmony.

Global Marshall Plan Initiative
http://globalmarshallplan.org/
The Global Marshall Plan Initiative is aiming at improved and binding frameworks for the global economy, which create balance between economy, environment, society and culture. What is the Global Marshall Plan? The state of the poor, the gap between north and south, cultural conflicts, security and environmental issues; these are all problems which ask for an improved and binding global framework that brings the global economy into harmony with environment, society and culture... The implementation of the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) -agreed upon by 191 states- form one of the main strategic corner stones of Global Marshall Plan Initiative. Blue is the colour as fans flood to Berlin

By Sam Wilson
BBC News, Berlin

One thing is certain as the World Cup nears its climax - whoever wins, Berlin will be painted blue.

Whether it is the Azzuri or Les Bleus celebrating victory, a sea of blue will flow through the city's streets, while tricolors are flourished aloft.

For the German capital is being invaded from the south and west, as more and more Italian and French fans arrive every hour, either to be at the match, or just with the hope of experiencing victory in Berlin.

"If it's possible we will watch in the stadium. If not, we will go to Alexander Platz or another big screen," says Gianluca Scarpini, who has come with his friends from Arezzo, near Florence.

"We are here to see the match and have a party."

There appear to be more Italian flags about than French. Even the French concede that.

But the French insist they are just as passionate.

Italian fans outnumber the French - and Germans are not missing out
"There will be more Italian fans in the stadium, but the French will sing louder, that is certain," declares French fan Nordine Mosbahi.

He and his friends are on the hunt for tickets. The stakes are getting high.

While travelling by train into Berlin to watch the third-place play-off on TV on Saturday night, German Ludwig Fenzel mentioned that he had a ticket for the final.

He then had to fight off four-figure offers for his ticket from a group of six Italians. "No chance," he replied stubbornly, as the bids edged higher.

Outside the Olympic stadium on Saturday afternoon, fans from both sides wandered back and forth, desperate for an invitation to the greatest show on Earth.

But after finding a man who was selling, they retreated shell-shocked, as the going price hovered around 1,500 euros (£1,039) a ticket.

French and Italian fans predict glory on the eve of the final. Many will be back on Sunday, willing the price to drop as touts get nervous with kick-off approaching.

Some will still be there even after the match has begun, still holding out hope, but too disillusioned to rush off to a bar to watch. They want to be there.

Meanwhile, at the various "fan fests" in Berlin, particularly at the "fan mile" leading up to the Brandenburg Gate, probably hundreds of thousands of people will have their eyes glued to the game.

Besides those dressed in blue many, perhaps most, will be Germans.

The hosts of what many have described as the "biggest party here ever" are determined not to be overshadowed by their guests.

For while Germany were ousted from their own tournament at the eleventh hour, the country is far from bitter.

All the other nations see the Germans are friendly people - the Germans can be very proud of this World Cup

Few Germans expected their team to get to the semi-final, and far from watching the final begrudgingly in their living rooms, most say they expect Berlin's public viewing areas to be packed, as Germans celebrate the climax of what has been viewed as a triumph for the nation.

The slogan of the tournament, "Time to make friends", has been matched in deed, and Germans believe they have made huge strides in persuading a sometimes skeptical outside world that they come in peace.

"It has changed the picture in the world of Germany, and all the other nations see the Germans are friendly people," says Markus Hildebrand. "The Germans can be very proud of this World Cup."

4. PEACE VIGIL FOR THE GAZA STRIP

In view of the escalating turmoil and violence in the Gaza Strip, and considering the huge impact it is having on the lives of nearly one million Palestinians living there, it is recommended to also dedicate a portion of this meditation towards facilitating a peaceful resolution of the current crisis.

Israel launches strikes after rebuffing ceasefire

By Nidal al-Mughrabi - July 9

GAZA (Reuters) - Israel launched rapid-fire air strikes against Palestinian targets across the Gaza Strip on Sunday after rebuffing a proposed ceasefire by Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas.

Israel is threatening to expand its offensive unless militants release Corporal Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier abducted in a cross-border raid on June 25, and halt rocket fire on Israeli cities.

At least three militants were injured in an early morning air strike near the Karni commercial crossing between Gaza and Israel, Palestinian medics and police said.

Israel also bombed a key bridge in northern Gaza, despite an appeal from the United Nations to stop targeting the strip's fragile infrastructure.

The army said the goal was to prevent militants from transporting rockets to launch sites.

Rocket strikes on Israeli cities continued on Sunday. In the latest attacks, a rocket landed in a street in the Israeli town of Sderot injuring one person moderately in his chest, the army said. Three others were lightly injured after a second rocket slammed into a house, rescue services said.

Earlier in southern Gaza, Israel bombed a militant training camp. No one was hurt. "It was being used to direct attacks," an army spokesman said.

Israel killed seven Palestinians, including a 6-year-old girl and a policeman, on Saturday, Palestinian witnesses said.

About 50 Palestinians and one Israeli soldier have been killed so far in the offensive, launched on June 28 to pile pressure on the Hamas-led Palestinian government, already on the brink of financial collapse from a Western aid embargo, to help free Shalit.

Israeli tanks withdrew from much of the northern Gaza Strip on Saturday but soldiers remain in the southern part of the territory and have deployed close to the outskirts of Gaza City.

MORE ATTACKS

"We will soon begin operations in other places," Israeli Military Southern Command Chief Yoav Galant told Israeli media. "I see no reason to stop the offensive as long as they are holding our soldier."

Galant said the Israeli offensive, criticized by the European Union and United Nations, had no time limit and that troops were prepared to continue it for "a month, two months and more if needed."

U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said called on both sides to exercise restraint and respect their obligations under international law.

"As I have repeatedly stated, I am extremely concerned about the dangerous situation in the occupied Palestinian Territory. I am appealing for urgent action to alleviate the desperate humanitarian situation of the civilian population," Annan said.

"The Israeli air strikes on Gaza's only power plant have had a far-reaching impact on Gaza's hospitals, flour mills, water and sanitation systems," he said.

Haniyeh said Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and a halt to military actions could "make it easy for us to end the crisis" over Shalit.

Israel said it would only pull its troops out if militants halted rocket attacks and released the soldier.

The Islamist Hamas and other militant groups have demanded Israel make the first move by releasing hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the soldier. The Jewish state has rejected this.

"Our intentions are to bring security for Israel citizens and to release Gilad," Galant said. "If someone expects us to play into the hands of the Palestinians, they are mistaken."

A black flag

July 6th, 2006

Gideon Levy

A black flag hangs over the “rolling” operation in Gaza. The more the operation “rolls,” the darker the flag becomes. The “summer rains” we are showering on Gaza are not only pointless, but are first and foremost blatantly illegitimate. It is not legitimate to cut off 750,000 people from electricity. It is not legitimate to call on 20,000 people to run from their homes and turn their towns into ghost towns. It is not legitimate to penetrate Syria’s airspace. It is not legitimate to kidnap half a government and a quarter of a parliament.

A state that takes such steps is no longer distinguishable from a terror organization. The harsher the steps, the more monstrous and stupid they become, the more the moral underpinnings for them are removed and the stronger the impression that the Israeli government has lost its nerve. Now one must hope that the weekend lull, whether initiated by Egypt or the prime minister, and in any case to the dismay of Channel 2’s Roni Daniel and the IDF, will lead to a radical change.

Everything must be done to win Gilad Shalit’s release. What we are doing now in Gaza has nothing to do with freeing him. It is a widescale act of vengeance, the kind that the IDF and Shin Bet have wanted to conduct for some time, mostly motivated by the deep frustration that the army commanders feel about their impotence against the Qassams and the daring Palestinian guerilla raid. There’s a huge gap between the army unleashing its frustration and a clever and legitimate operation to free the kidnapped soldier.

To prevent the army from running as amok as it would like, a strong and judicious political echelon is required. But facing off against the frustrated army is Ehud Olmert and Amir Peretz’s tyro regime, weak and happless. Until the weekend lull, it appeared that each step proposed by the army and Shin Bet had been immediately approved for backing. That does not bode well, not only for the chances of freeing Shalit, but also for the future management of the government, which is being revealed to be as weak as the Hamas government.

The only wise and restrained voice heard so far was that of the soldier’s father, Noam Shalit, of all people. That noble man called at what is clearly his most difficult hour, not for stridency and not for further damage done to the lives of soldiers and innocent Palestinians. Against the background of the IDF’s unrestrained actions and the arrogant bragging of the latest macho spokesmen, Maj. Gen. Yoav Gallant of the Southern Command and Maj. Gen. (res.) Amos Gilad, Shalit’s father’s voice stood out like a voice crying in the wilderness.

Sending tens of thousands of miserable inhabitants running from their homes, dozens of kilometers from where his son is supposedly hidden, and cutting off the electricity to hundreds of thousands of others, is certainly not what he meant in his understated emotional pleas. It’s a shame nobody is listening to him, of all people.

The legitimate basis for the IDF’s operation was stripped away the moment it began. It’s no accident that nobody mentions the day before the attack on the Kerem Shalom fort, when the IDF kidnapped two civilians, a doctor and his brother, from their home in Gaza. The difference between us and them? We kidnapped civilians and they captured a soldier, we are a state and they are a terror organization. How ridiculously pathetic Amos Gilad sounds when he says that the capture of Shalit was “illegitimate and illegal,” unlike when the IDF grabs civilians from their homes. How can a senior official in the defense ministry claim that “the head of the snake” is in Damascus, when the IDF uses the exact same methods?

True, when the IDF and Shin Bet grab civilians from their homes - and they do so often - it is not to murder them later. But sometimes they are killed on the doorsteps of their homes, although it is not necessary, and sometimes they are grabbed to serve as “bargaining chips,” like in Lebanon and now, with the Palestinian legislators. What an uproar there would be if the Palestinians had grabbed half the members of the Israeli government. How would we label them?

Collective punishment is illegitimate and it does not have a smidgeon of intelligence. Where will the inhabitants of Beit Hanun run? With typical hardheartedness the military reporters say they were not “expelled” but that it was “recommended” they leave, for the benefit, of course, of those running for their lives. And what will this inhumane step lead to? Support for the Israeli government? Their enlistment as informants and collaborators for the Shin Bet? Can the miserable farmers of Beit Hanun and Beit Lahia do anything about the Qassam rocket-launching cells? Will bombing an already destroyed airport do anything to free the soldier or was it just to decorate the headlines?

Did anyone think about what would have happened if Syrian planes had managed to down one of the Israeli planes that brazenly buzzed their president’s palace? Would we have declared war on Syria? Another “legitimate war”? Will the blackout of Gaza bring down the Hamas government or cause the population to rally around it? And even if the Hamas government falls, as Washington wants, what will happen on the day after? These are questions for which nobody has any real answers. As usual here: Quiet, we’re shooting. But this time we are not only shooting. We are bombing and shelling, darkening and destroying, imposing a siege and kidnapping like the worst of terrorists and nobody breaks the silence to ask, what the hell for, and according to what right?

5. UPCOMING YEARLONG WORLD HEALING EVENT

Recommended by "Louise Cloutier" louise@voiceborne.com"> who wrote:

I got this email from a dear friend of mine who is the organizer of this project, and a powerful healer and psychic. She is asking us to spread the word about a very simple group meditation that we all can do together, by joining our energy every day. I would ask that those of you who are connected to other circles --people of like mind-- to please pass the word to them as well.

BTW, the time specified for the meditation is local time --7:15am and 10:15pm in your own time zone. So this meditation will be circling the earth all through the day, like a wave of sweet glowing sunlight circling the planet around and around and around.....

Blessings!

World Healing Event – July 15, 2006

The time has come for the concerted aligned effort on behalf of the planet. There are many good hearted, well intentioned spiritual people who have been preparing the way for dramatic shifts in consciousness for a long time. There are also many groups of enlightened people and spiritually awake people who have been and currently are praying, meditating, and holding many types of ceremonies to build the energy for these shifts to occur. The moment has arrived for an alignment inside of the unity which already exists of all individual and group efforts. An event will be held which will allow each of you to have the opportunity to participate in this global event designed to facilitate the changes for which you all have been praying and working so hard. This event will begin July 15, 2006. It will continue every day for one year. In order to participate, you can do the following: At 7:15 AM and 10:15 PM, in your own time zone, take 15 minutes to pray and meditate using the following method.

1. Take 5 minutes to breath, relax and open your body, mind and heart to your soul.

2. Set your intention to connect with Divine Source as you know it.

3. Ask to be connected through your spirit guides and angels to all others praying and meditating at this time.

4. Bring yourself into the fullness of your desire to create whatever it is that you want to see get done on the planet; i.e.-(World Peace, Harmonious And Loving Interactions, Spiritual Healing, Understanding and Compassion, Safety For The Children, A Healthy and Balanced Ecosystem, Planetary Healing, Clarity and Truth…). Let yourself deeply feel the truth of your soul’s desire for the thing(s) that is/are most true for you. Intend with your mind and heart that this be so.

5. Ask Divine Source and those Divine Beings who watch over our planet to move through you and out into the world to manifest this reality in alignment with your intentions.

6. Intend to connect with all others who are setting intentions at this time.

7. Let the energy of Divine Source run through you as long as you wish.

8. When the energy begins to wind down, give thanks to All That Is for this being done. Acknowledge the spirit helpers and thank them. Most of all acknowledge yourself for your participation in helping to create a healthy, balanced, loving world.

9. Disconnect from the other participants and slowly come back to your normal waking reality.

THANK YOU AND BLESS YOU IN HIGHEST DIVINE LOVE AND LIGHT.

We have all been told for centuries that the only way to create heaven on earth is together.

Now is the time
